This is not another indie-folk song: the intimacy of the voice and the guitar is marred by electronic loops that sound as if they “were played by a computer gone mad”. It only takes a few seconds to grasp the peculiarity of ‘Take Control’, the new single by the Tuscan artist Fabio Pocci, aka PHOMEA.
This encounter and clash between songwriting and electronica is also the culmination of a personal journey, in which the artist’s purpose is to find answers to the question: what is human? This enquiry originated the script for the video, written by Fabio himself in collaboration with video-maker Federico Perticone.
‘Take Control‘ is the second single excerpt from Phomea’s new album ‘Me And My Army’ due out on November 11, supported by three labels: Beautiful Losers, Beng! Dischi and Beta Produzioni. Of course, in physical and digital versions.
Phomea is the solo project of the Tuscan artist Fabio Pocci, a former member of S.U.S. and Sparflatz.
Multi-instrumentalist, he made his debut in 2012 with the EP ‘La stessa condizione’ (SalmoneRec).
After an intense live activity, which saw him open for Beach House and Marco Parente among others, in 2019 he recorded his first album, ‘Annie’, for MelaVerde Records, in which the tormented songwriting and the authentic approach earned him the nickname “grunge poet”.
