17 years in the making – “This Never Happened” by metallic hardcore hybrid ALL ELSE FAILED sees a proper vinyl release

1 min read

Originally released in 2004, This Never Happened features drumming and production from DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN / former COHEED AND CAMBRIA drummer, Chris Pennie, mastering by Grammy award-winning engineer, Alan Douches, and was recorded and mixed by late producer & engineer, Nick Rotundo. The album received critical acclaim from Exclaim!, Punk News, Lambgoat, AllMusic, and more for it’s ultra dynamic, frenetic, and textured song structures.

This Never Happened will see an October 1st release date. Three exclusive vinyl variants are available for pre-order now. The album is available for streaming now on Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, and more. In celebration of the reissue release, the band will join BOYSETSFIRE for four dates beginning September 22nd.

ALL ELSE FAILED formed in the outskirts of Philadelphia, PA in 1995 by Luke Muir, Patrick Shannon and Steve Wiegand. The idea was simple: play loud, heavy, aggressive, noisy music with intensity and passion. The result was an extremely unique blend of hardcore punk, heavy metal, and even occasional nods to goth and electronica. Time and lineup changes marched on, leading the band and sound to be streamlined into the slightly less chaotic but equally diverse, and perhaps unsettling sound that is featured on their apex release of This Never Happened, in 2004. The band eventually disbanded in 2007, reforming on a part time basis in 2011. After the world’s time out in 2020, the band is looking forward to resuming shows, starting with an East Coast Tour with BOYSETSFIRE in September of 2021 – to accompany the first ever vinyl release of This Never Happened via Translation Loss Records.

Recorded April 2003 and February 2004 at Clay Creek Studios in Newark, DE. Recorded and Mixed by Nick Rotundo. Tracks 1-4, 6, 8, 10, 12 produced by Chris Pennie. Tracks 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 and 14 produced by Nick Rotundo. Mastered February 2004 by Alan Douches at West West Side Studios in Tenafly, NJ / Original Layout and Design by Dimitri Minakakis and photography by Jon Pushnik.
