Born out of the urge to blend their experience in various previous projects with a darker, more metallic sound, drawing from acts like Light Bearer, Isis, Amen ra, Aussitot Mort, Rosetta, Cult of Luna, Fall of efrafa, Envy, etc, Torrelavega based ERETIA has been around since late 2018, but only this year they managed to craft their proper debut full length, which we’re stoked to tease with the new track premiere below!
ERETIA was born from the concern of Borja (Guitar) and Carlos (Drums), to play together and see what could come out of there. “We both knew each other since we were teenagers and from sharing a rehearsal room, concerts and free time throughout all these years. We came from playing in bands of different styles such as Osoluna (Post-HC-Screamo), Tempano (Screamo), La Tumba de Nicolas Cage (Post-rock), etc. all of them dissolved or on indefinite hiatus.” – comments the band.
“We think that we are a amalgam of all music genres labeled with the “post-“ prefix. post-metal would be the default category, but maybe our roots of a post-hardcore/screamo bands is evident in the textures and melodies that we combine with arrengements in a transcendent post-rock edge.”
Recorded between July 2021 and March 2022 in the Cubil (Cantabria, Spain) for Daniel “Papelillo”, mixed and mastered by Daniel “Papelillo” and Eretia, with artwork by Adrian Alcorta, the album is slated for a massive December 15th release via a number of DIY labels from different parts of Europe: Urgence Disk Records (Swiss), Engineer Records (England), Pumpkin Records (Bulgary), Holy Goat Records (Germany), Dingleberry records and distribution (Germany), Araki Records (France), Bus Stop Press (France), Fresh Outbreak Records (Italy), Salto Mortale Music (Slovakia), Nothing to Harvest Records (Greece), PASIDARYK PATS recordss (Lithuania), Producciones Tudancas (Spain), Quebranta Records (Spain), Sound like Sundays records (Spain), Mise-En-Scène Productions (Spain), Primitive Noise (Spain), Navalla (Spain), Autoestima Diy Distrolabelbooking (Spain), THREE MOONS RECORDS (tape version, Poland), Autoestima Diy Distrolabelbooking (CD version, Spain).
Asked about the lyrical sphere of the album, ERETIA explains: “The theme is the perspective how we see the reality around our lifes, for this in a nutshell, is about the influence on people of the way of life imposed on us by the media, politics, the expanded “culture”, the digital age, etc. and how it affects the behavior and lives of people.”
“All of us believe and stand DIY values and we are very active in the DIY community.”, says the band. “This is really important for us, we have grown he DIY scene is the place where we want to be and to develop our band activity, where we believe there are coherence with our ideas. We don’t share the approaches and strategies of the modern and commercial music industry.”
