What happens when two monstrously talented and lyrically engaged metallic punk bands get together and throw a bunch of energetic, provocative, and emotionally complex musical styles into one pot? Well, we already gave you an idea in our recent review, but we’ve decided to give it some more space and dive deeper into its ingredients. Sounding like a soundtrack for the end of society as we know it, the amazing split between MYTERI and PROCRASTINATE is nowhere near cheesy summer songs for a beach day. We have teamed up with both bands to give you some more insights about this project and proper backstory about each and every song.

POISON IN THE WELL is a song mostly written in the rehearsal room. Our former guitarist Mattias came up with the riffs on the spot and then we tweaked and twisted them a bit. We had some arguments about the outro of the song and tried many different versions. At some point there was even blastbeats on some of it! The lyrics are about corruption in society. A poison that benefits the rich on cost of everyone else.
DOM FÅR ALDRIG MIG, written and originally performed by Asta Kask in the 80’s. This song is vinyl exclusive. Asta Kask is a favorite band for everyone in the band. They have had a great impact on us. They have been an inspiration in our teenage years and is one of the reasons we started to play punk rock in the beginning. The song is about a person that rather kills himself than conform and adjust to society’s norms. The title translates to ‘they’ll never get me’. And they never got them. Asta Kask is still playing punk and the members, past and present, are still punks. These songs were recorded during our tour in Greece, in Procrastinate’s hometown Karditsa. We travelled together with Chris and Thanos from Procrastinate and we did a couple of shows together. A warm friendship grew out of this, and we decided that the best way to seal this friendship was to make a split record. Now, a year later it’s finally here. Made real with the help of Alerta Antifascista Records, Halvfabrikat Records, Nothing To Harvest Records and Phobia Records. And of course with the beautiful artwork by Alex C.F.
DISSECT THE INVISIBLE HAND is a song written the way that we write all songs, someone brings an idea and we give it shape to the practice space (our local squat) till it reaches a point where everyone likes it. The lyrical theme of this song explores the constant unrest that builds in a young person till they have to face the reality of growing up and make a choice that will define them for their whole lives, a career inside the oppression of western capitalist society. It’s a wink to the meme culture of re-posting relatable nihilistic memes that normalize depression. We don’t need to do that, if we stop ignoring our wants and deconstruct the idea of success. The title refers to the invisible hand of the free market conceived by Adam Smith. It served as milestone theory that established capitalism.
CASUAL IGNORANCE was written in a similar process. This is a song that revolves mainly around privilege and the importance of being self-aware. It recommends an introspection and willingness to learn about oppressive behavior that one might not even acknowledge. It’s about the little things that may be actually huge depending on the angle that you’re looking at them. It’s an invitation to step back and listen when we don’t understand.
ΔΥΣΠΝΟΙΑ (DYSPNEA) is a cover of an unreleased track of one of our favorite Greek bands, Dyspnea. It’s a band that we have in our hearts for their music, but also as people. They’re still involved in the DIY scene with different bands and always present at their local squat. We owe much to their music style and ethics for what our band is today. They were kind enough to let us listen to some rehearsal audio from it and let us record it for the first time, since they’re sadly not a band anymore. Then we added our own twist to it, used their lyrics, but only changed their placement on the music. Stelios (their singer) participates by screaming a few lines which made us super happy. It’s a song about suffocating from the difficulties of life, yet still living to win. One thing more that happened differently in this song is that I (Thanos-vocals) never rehearsed it with the rest and just freestyled it in the studio.
