With their latest October 5th debut self-titled release, I fell in love with WHICH WITCH on the first spin. Worried that it may have been a fluke, I listened to it again. The 4-piece piece gritty punk / post hardcore act made one hell of an album, complete with the harmonies, thick sound, intricate guitar work in the vein of FUGAZI and rough vocals we’ve grown to love from HOT WATER MUSIC. Interesting in both rhythm and texture, this 3-tracked is a major go and must listen for all of you organic sounding, intelligent post hardcore lovers.
We share all writing credit and duties and have a collaborative approach to playing. We all share common likes in music, but also all love different bands that we don’t.
All dig as well. We don’t try to sound like anything in particular, but more let whatever happens, Happen organically in the hot dog house. (The building our shared practice space is in). We’ve all been in a lot of bands growing up. We’ve all got families and positive lives and this is our outlet. We Just wanna have fun doing something we love. Our songs are honest stories about every day struggles.
Recording & mixed on September 15 & 16, 2019 at Little Eden, Asbury Park, NJ by Pete Steinkopf (Bouncing Souls & Beach Rats) / Mastered at West West Side Music, NY by Alan Douches / Cover Art by Michael Shepherd / The band is: Guitar & Vocals: Natale Amato; Drums: Rob Affa; Bass: Tyler White; Guitar & Vocals: Michael Shepherd
“Reborn Against”
The words here are pretty straight forward and it feels like an anthem of revolution, resolution & redemption from whatever someone’s particular demons may be.
“Beard Speed”
This song was written about toxic/volatile relationships and how it’s hard to remove ourselves from the comfort we know.
“Existential Dementia”
I was listening to The Cure “Prayers for Rain” and was inspired by the dark emotional lyrics. The lyrics of our song are believe it or not about skateboarding and the love/hate relationship I have with it. But it is also more about my relationship to life itself.
