Teased in late May through his ghostly single “Ephemeral”, OLD MOON’s debut album Altars is a descent into a swirling world where shimmering noise meshes with clamoring guitars, pounding drums, and melodic hooks. It may be influenced by a variety of moods and styles, but it surely proves the artist to be forward thinking in execution. “Altars” is a confident and assured debut that demands a sequel, and we’re pleased to give you its first listen below!
“Altars” marks Old Moon’s first full length release after a string of EPs and demos throughout 2020, and its first release on A la Carte Records. The album was written and recorded by Old Moon’s Tom Weir in rural New Hampshire and mixed by Shaun Durkan (Weekend, Soft Kill) in San Francisco and Portland.
Old Moon is the recording project of New Hampshire native Tom Weir. Tom draws on diverse influences to make music that is at once melodic and heavy, with a reflective lyrical bent. Old Moon started in the winter of 2020, and in the following months Tom released the Past Lives and Messenger EPs before signing with up and coming label A La Carte Records for his debut LP.
