Multi-way splits were always a screamo related thingy and it’s no wonder one of the most important skramz label on Earth, Zegema Beach Records, feels entitled to carry the torch and give us more and more jaw-dropping collaborations that prove, beyond any doubt, the emotional (post) hardcore niche seems to be doing better than ever.
The label’s new offering, a 6-way split 12″ dubbed “CUBE”, features songs from Burial Etiquette, Elle, Eyelet, Joliette, Our Future Is An Absolute Shadow, and Bay Area quartet HAWAK, who join us today to give you the first listen of one of their contributed tracks, a multi-faceted heart on sleeve banger “Old Wounds”.
The full split releases in full on 500 12″s across two gorgeous variants via Zegema Beach Records and Dog Knights Records imprint Left Hand Label on July 9th, 2022.
“This split was born through a few conversations I was having, primary with Elle who had been discussing a few options for bands that they wanted to do a split with.” – comments Dave of Zegema Beach Records.
“The intention was to have them do a 7″ split with someone, but after getting Elle, Hawak, Eyelet, and Joliette on board for splits I decided to smush together those with a recently discussed split between Burial Etiquette and Our Future Is An Absolute Shadow. Bam – Cube was born. I am incredibly stoked on this collaboration as 1) it has five of the best screamo bands around, and 2) I was able to take part musically as well via one of the projects I’m in.”
