Don’t Get Lemon’s new track “Blow-Up,“ which shares a name with Michaelangelo Antonioni’s 1966 film set in London’s swinging scene, offers a glimpse into a dark and unseen world. The lyrics use William Burroughs’ cut-up technique to piece together fragments, and the imagery is inspired by David Lynch’s Blue Velvet. The result is a reimagining of the three-minute pop song with direct and sweet melodies.
“Blow–Up” comes after the release of Don’t Get Lemon’s debut album, Hyper Hollow Heaven, which was released on March 29, 2022, via à La Carte Records.
Don’t Get Lemon is a cool, ironic, stylish, detached, danceable pop trio based in Austin and Houston, Texas. Commanding a sound that ranges from ’70s Berlin to ’80s Manchester, DGL seek to entice the senses with their glam infused synth-pop.
The band told us of their intentions to release several additional singles, produce a couple of fresh music videos, tour Texas during the upcoming summer, and complete work on their second full-length album.
