Swiss post metallers TROUNCE debut hypnotic video for “The Crippled Saint”

September 7, 2023
1 min read

Swiss alt-metal band TROUNCE has unveiled their highly anticipated video for their latest single, “The Crippled Saint.” The track is a standout from their forthcoming debut album, “The Seven Crowns + Live at Roadburn,” set to be released on October 20, 2023.

The video, animated and directed by Pierre Potvliege, is available now on YouTube. The single itself will be digitally released tomorrow and can be pre-ordered through Hummus Records.

Speaking about the single, TROUNCE member Jona Nido commented, “This track has its own special vibe, bringing together elements that I was never able to put together in other bands. The guitar kind of floats over the drums, creating a very intense yet dramatic feel.”

Video director Pierre Potvliege described the video as “a delightfully absurd plunge into the depths of ‘The Crippled Saint.'” He added, “The result, I hope, is a harmonious union of sonic magic and visual art. This project has come to life far beyond my wildest hopes, becoming an emotional and introspective journey.”

TROUNCE was conceived as an exclusive project for the prestigious Roadburn Festival—the European Mecca of heavy music—which commissioned Hummus Records in 2022 to present the act for this year’s festival. The band played their seminal show in April 2023 in Tilburg, Netherlands, stunning the audience with their unique blend of genres.

The upcoming album is a double CD, also available as a deluxe triple vinyl edition, featuring both studio and live recordings. The studio version includes 11 tracks, while the live version offers unique and alternative renditions of some of these songs, recorded at Roadburn Festival.

Beyond the music, TROUNCE aims to offer a complete experience, from the studio to the live environment. The band is accompanied by a talented roster of artists providing photographs and illustrations to create a bleak yet beautiful visual landscape.

TROUNCE will be performing at several venues across Switzerland in the coming months, including stops in Saint-Gall, Nyon, Fribourg, and Zürich.
