Foxing, the band whose debut album The Albatross became a touchstone of emo and adjacent subgenres (check out our early FOXING interview about the album HERE), is preparing to celebrate the record’s 10th anniversary. In a remarkable double-header, they will be touring alongside The Hotelier, who are themselves marking a decade of their own iconic album, Home, Like Noplace There Is.

Today, Foxing takes the veil off a special 10th-anniversary edition of The Albatross, an album that was seminal in shaping the emo landscape. This new release showcases a myriad of covers by bands that have emerged in Foxing’s influential wake, such as Home Is Where, For Your Health, and Insignificant Other. It also presents the band’s 2023 reimagined versions of classic tracks “The Medic” and “Rory.”

Foxing didn’t just tease their upcoming release; they gave fans a substantial taste by dropping the updated 2023 version of “Rory,” alongside Prince Daddy & The Hyena’s cover of the same song. If you are wondering how the band’s sound has evolved over a decade, the new “Rory” serves as the perfect auditory canvas.

It incorporates acoustic guitars, sweeping string arrangements, and a reinvigorated trumpet finale, signaling how Foxing has matured while retaining the track’s original allure.

“Re-recorded versions of classics don’t always go over well, but this is a genuinely cool re-working that shows how much Foxing have grown in the past ten years without losing the song’s original charm.”

Prince Daddy & The Hyena offer their own electrifying spin, transforming “Rory” into something simultaneously punkier and more aggressive, yet still capturing the essence of the song we’ve all come to adore.

Foxing and The Hotelier are joining forces for a commemorative tour, making stops across North America. With shows ranging from Pittsburgh to Portland, this tour is a cross-country celebration of two albums that helped define a generation’s emotional landscape.
