WRISTMEETRAZOR share new video for “DogdayGod”, UK dates coming up

1 min read

WRISTMEETRAZOR just dropped a new music video for “DogdayGod,” taken from their album Degeneration.

Directed by the band and Joshua Boerum-Ruh, the video comes on the heels of a long US tour with VENDED and ahead of their first UK shows, marking a big moment for the band.

Justin Fornof (vocals) calls this video a peak representation of Degeneration. “Conceptually and musically, it feels like the climax of the record, so we felt the music video needed to fit that,” Fornof explains. With help from friends at 8498 on filming and directing, the video brings a visual intensity that matches the album’s dark themes.

The band went through significant changes following their 2021 release, Replica of a Strange Love. Fornof shifted to lead vocals, bringing in Userelaine on bass and Nate Billmyer on guitar, a reconfiguration that solidified through extensive North American tours with SEEYOUSPACECOWBOY, TRAITORS, and EIGHTEEN VISIONS, plus festival spots at Furnace Fest and CODE ORANGE’s Code World.

With a renewed direction, the revamped lineup hunkered down for Degeneration in a secluded cabin in New Jersey, locking in for 30 days with almost non-stop 12-hour sessions. Randy Lebeouf (THE ACACIA STRAIN, DYING WISH, KUBLAI KHAN) took on production, engineering, mixing, and mastering, fostering the album’s cold, post-apocalyptic soundscape.

Lyrically, Degeneration departs from WRISTMEETRAZOR’s previous introspective approach, diving into critiques of societal issues like hypocrisy, misanthropy, and a spiraling moral decline. Tracks like “Turn On, Tune In, Drop Dead” and “The Greatest Love Offering in the History of the World” tap into stories of societal exits and real-life violence, adding industrial and EBM influences with touches of groove-driven nu-metal.

The album’s artwork, crafted by Alex Eckman-Lawn, mirrors this dark shift. Known for his work with END, DIM MAK, and WOE, Eckman-Lawn’s cover art integrates human and machine elements, intensifying the dystopian feel of Degeneration and aligning with the band’s thematic exploration of moral decay.
