Tønsberg’s The Mansters return on October 1 with “Snapshots from a Shitshow,” a record issued by Loyal Blood Records that captures over a decade of their evolution. Once rooted firmly in hardcore, the band has shed the need for genre boundaries, moving instead with instinct and raw energy. The result is a record that stretches across punk, hardcore, and rock, refusing to settle into one lane.
Today, we’re stoked to give you an early listen of the full album below!
The album opens with the furious “The World is My Ulcer” and closes on a shoegaze edge, turning the sequence into what the band describes as a chaotic ride through their influences. They point to the grit of Negative Approach, the hooks of Ramones and 7 Seconds, the urgency of ’90s skate punk, and the emotional directness of 2000s emo. It’s a mix that stays both melodic and abrasive, with sarcasm and irony sewn tightly into its fabric.
Themes hit on everyday fractures and wider cracks: beach anxiety, miscommunication, the craving for online validation, economic pressure, and the uneasy relationship between bands and their fans. Self-loathing, frustration, and humor keep circling through, giving the record its bite. The band doesn’t shy away from turning the lens on themselves as much as on the culture around them.
“Lessons in Giving Up” and “Yngve’s Fault” stand out as singles for airplay, but the full album is designed less as a polished package than as a jagged snapshot. As the band frames it, this is their most unapologetic statement, one that makes honesty and irreverence a baseline rather than a pose.
“Snapshots from a Shitshow” is out October 1 via Loyal Blood Records.
