DOWNFALL OF GAIA’s second studio album for Metal Blade Record, Aeons Unveils The Thrones Of Decay, was released last November. Recorded at ‘79 Sound Studio in Cologne, mixed at renowned Atomic Garden Studio in San Francisco and mastered at Audiosiege in Portland, Aeon Unveils The Thrones Of Decay is the soundtrack to mankind’s most powerful enemy: time, which passes without mercy; a journey to the dark sides each individual has to fight on a day to day basis. Time in its majesty is an unbeatable enemy and all human beings have to deal with loss, change and unwanted circumstances. Elaborates Cvlt Nation, “Aeon Unveils The Thrones Of Decay is cut into three pieces: the first part is a post-blackish, aggressive and hopeless sound that just makes your soul crave for a mercy killing; then you fall under a rather classical but effective post metal with an ambient aftertaste, only to finally go to a despairing ending that connects with the opening,” Rock Hard notes, “Right from the start, the album offers anchors and hooks while growing stronger and stronger as it goes. The great songs ‘Of Stillness And Solitude’ and ‘To Carry Myself To The Grave’ in the center are the sun around which everything else revolves – shining brightly yet still destructive,” while Metal.de adds, “Anger, hatred, despair, but also catharsis – DOWNFALL OF GAIA unite all this on their new Album Aeon Unveils The Thrones Of Decay. One fat chunk of an album!”

“Men talk of killing time, while time quietly kills them.” – Dion Boucicault
