Australian BISON premieres new video for “Take Your Place”

1 min read

Our recent guests BISON were among the kings of the ‘first-wave’ of nu-metal in Australia, circa 1998 – 2005. Fast Forward to a post-COVID 2021, and throw in a pinch of Sam Bassal (Ocean Grove) in the producer’s role, and you have a classic heavy-groove sound with a modern heavy music flavour that cannot be denied!

Their return EP ‘Perfect Mistakes’ will be released on Friday May 28. The first single from it, ‘Begin Again’ was released online last month and can be found at this location. Today they are dropping their second cut from the EP, entitled ‘Take Your Place’.

The band say that this new single is inspired by the passing of time and seeing the coming and going of friends and relationships. “Close relationships can be difficult and we all fuck up sometimes. We can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube. Sometimes its best to reframe, tear down the barriers and move forward – and other times, it’s best to change to the locks.”

Bison’s storied history shows that they toured and shared stages with the likes of Hed (pe) (USA), Hoobastank (USA), The White Stripes (USA), COG, Karnivool, Sunk Loto, Grinspoon, Superheist, The Butterfly Effect and 28 Days, and playing festivals like Vans Warped and the Australian X-Games at Homebush Stadium.

BISON band

BISON formed in Melbourne, Australia in 1997 when drummer Eddie and former guitarist Calksi were inspired by the nu-metal and alt-rock OG’s of the day, like Korn, Helmet, Sepultura, Incubus etc, bringing hip-hop and heavy music together. The recruits of bassist Amos and vocalist Brens soon followed. BISON quickly established itself within the Melbourne heavy music scene, bringing high energy shows & Rap/Rock tunes with wide appeal to the all-ages, festival and pub/club circuit.

Thematically, the new EP ‘Perfect Mistakes’ explores the lessons learned from separation, death, addiction, the pressures of life & all that comes with experience. Listeners can really connect with these new tunes.
