Portuguese emotive post hardcore band PLEDGE teasing new album “Haunted Visions”

1 min read

Born in 2018, Portugal’s PLEDGE play what we might call a modern and fresh post-hardcore with no strings attached, influenced by what each and every member brings to the table. The band comprised of Hugo Martins/guitar (Larkin, On Equal, Killing Frost); Sofia Magalhães/vocals (We Are The Damned, Hicks Kinison, Vaee Solis); Vítor Vaz/ bass (Mr Miyagi, Dead Academy); Filipe Romariz/drums (Verbian, Local Trap, Lodge); Vasco Reis/guitar and synths (Verbian, Abnóxio) made their debut with the EP “Resilience”, which was recorded in a DIY style and was mastered by Chris Paccou (Napalm Death, Carcass, Brujeria).

Despite the band’s short history, Pledge have fearlessly thrown themselves to the stages and, in less than 2 years they’ve travelled throughout the whole country and even got the chance to play in Spain. It’s impossible to remain indifferent to a Pledge concert, so, show by show; the band’s popularity grows stronger, with more and more people coming to the shows. Their explosive, genuine and charismatic stage performance, with no fear of looking the audience in the eyes, mixed with the band’s dexterity with their instruments, is what characterizes their live shows.

In December 2019, Pledge hit the studio to record their debut full length album “Haunted Visions”. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by André Gonçalves at Adrift Studio, in Viana do Castelo and was initially planed for release in 2020, but due to the serious pandemic that took everyone by surprise, including Pledge, it had to be postponed along with a number of confirmed shows. So now that the world is gradually returning to normal, the time has come for Pledge to finally unleash their debut album. A stunning and potent concoction of noise-rock, post-hardcore, metal and sludge that will appeal to fans of Converse, Refused, Birds in Row and At The Drive In.
