Brighton’s DIY emo outfit, Prom, are gearing up to unleash their debut album From The Wayside on November 8th, with the title track making its first appearance on September 12th via Sugar-Free Records. These guys are carving out their space in the emo/hardcore landscape with a record that echoes the raw energy of ’90s alternative while blending it with modern production quality.
Their sound—a hybrid of shoegaze softness and hardcore intensity—is a journey into self-discovery and the struggle against self-loathing, driven by a seamless interplay between Alessandro’s harsh vocals and Jack’s ethereal tones.
Today, the band is unveiling the title track of the album. If you’re a fan of Superheaven, Title Fight, Basement, or Fleshwater, this is your next must-listen today!
Recorded entirely by the band in their DIY setups between Tidalwave in Brighton and Shaken Oak in Oxfordshire, the album captures a gritty, authentic vibe that feels like it could’ve been plucked from any point in time since 1991.
Prom are no strangers to the grind, having already racked up over 20,000 Spotify streams in their first year, dropped a well-received EP in February, and released a split EP with fellow Brighton grunge-punks Wimp.

Their lead single, “Private Room,” not only hit over 1000 streams in its first week but also gained traction through a live session at Brighton’s Small Pond Studios.
Their debut LP, pressed on transparent dark green vinyl, is a fast-paced, 10-track exploration of emotionally charged rage and sadness, echoing the likes of Title Fight, Basement, Superheaven, and Fleshwater.
Prom have already left their mark on the scene with performances at Washed Out Festival and Homegrown Festival, supporting bands like The World Is a Beautiful Place, Free Throw, and No Relief.
Pre-orders for From The Wayside go live on September 12th—keep an eye out if you want to grab a piece of this sonic time capsule.
