CHURCHBURN return with most monumentally ruthless, punishing album Genocidal Rite

1 min read

Celebrating their 10 year anniversary as a band, CHURCHBURN return with their third and most monumentally ruthless, punishing, and mind-melting full-length titled, Genocidal Rite. The collaboration between founding members Dave Suzuki and Ray McCaffrey, along with long time members Timmy St. Amour and Derek Moniz, show the band digging deeper into misery-drenched progressive song writing, and an oroborus of circle-pit-inducing despair. Seeping in deadly, pitch-black dread, the Rhode Island collective showcase the bands outstanding ability to transport in and out of aggressive death metal, blackened doom, black metal, and sludge – with absolute ease and mastery.

Today, CHURCHBURN unleash the brutal first single from Genocidal Rite titled, “Scarred”. The track is streaming now at Metal Injection.
Dave Suzuki (guitars/vocals) shares – “The song “Scarred” is about my father Hiroshi Suzuki, who died on January 16th, 2020 and my experience with him during his last days – things I was thinking and feeling. They are some of the most personal lyrics I have ever written.”
The band began writing Genocidal Rite in 2020 after the passing of a close family member. “It set off a spark that carried us through the entire process from re-writing to recording,” explains CHURCHBURN guitarist & vocalist, Dave Suzuki. Driven by overwhelmingly haunting personal experiences with death and suffering, the band fuel each lyric – as well as each note – with hot-blooded agony. Recorded and mixed at The Red Room in Attleboro, MA, with James Gazerro, CHURCHBURN channeled the collective’s inner decay and struggle to create anthems of perseverance and redemption.

Genocidal Rite features a villainous guest vocal appearance from John McEntee of INCANTATION on the track “Sin Of Angels” and unsettling atmosphere and backup vocals courtesy of Andrew Grant of THE VOMIT ARSONIST throughout the album. The album will be released on November 5, 2021 via Translation Loss Records, on 2 vinyl variants and digital.
