DEFEATER: “No stagediving tonight!” – European tour continues, Spring tour canceled! [UPDATE]

1 min read

Bridge Nine Records’ melodic hardcore act DEFEATER are in the middle of their current European trek. As announced earlier this month, the band “can’t have ANYONE bumping into Derek (the band’s vocalist) on this tour.” The label asked: “Please feel free to jump on each other’s heads and scream your brains out, but Derek is Kryptonite and you are all collectively Superman.”. The reason for this is that Derek has necrosis of the hip and he is going to have a surgery once the band get back to the States. The bad news is that he got a little banged up in Berlin, which unfortunately threatened to end the tour. Nonetheless, they keep it going with hopes to finish the job.

The band is sharing stages with CASPIAN, GOODTIME BOYSLANDSCAPES and MORE THAN LIFE. Scroll down to see the remaining dates and some videos documenting the tour. Fingers crossed for Derek. let’s hope he’ll make it through the whole trek. Watch out for him and use your friends’ back to “back dive”, surf away from the stage and circle pit! :)

[UPDATE] The band has just dropped off their upcoming tour with THE WONDER YEARS, CITIZEN, REAL FRIENDS and MODERN BASEBALL . See the details below:

Hey all, we have some bad news with a silver lining.
Derek’s doctors and surgeons have strongly recommended that he get his hip taken care of as soon as possible before it breaks in its brittle state and causes further damage.
The bad news is that we are unfortunately going to have to drop from The Wonder Years tour. Bummed doesn’t even begin to describe how upset we are that we are missing such an awesome opportunity.
However the good news is that not only will Derek be able to take the time he needs to go to physical therapy and heal properly, but our spot will be filled by the excellent band Fireworks.
We are already planning a full North American run for this fall where we promise to make up for lost time.
 Thanks guys, we love you.
