Eight Feet Under: new 8-way screamo split mesmerizes and thrills in equal measure

1 min read

From time to time, it’s worth looking at contemporary works of certain subgenres through the window of a compilation, to get a sense of the extent to which modern artists are taking part in the general trends and communities. We’re always eager to explore modern, post rock tinged screamo further, so it’s always a great pleasure to report yet another quality recording. “Eight Feet Under, Vol. 1” is surely one of them. The record gathers tracks from 8 bands from 4 countries, using their recent contributions to previously released split EPs and featuring some unreleased songs from IDIOTEQ featured bands VI SOM ÄLSKADE VARANDRA SÅ MYCKET, VIA FONDO, NOUS ÉTIONS, THE WORLD THAT SUMMER, SLEEPER WAVE, YOUTH NOVEL, LAMANTIDE, and PASTEL! The record was released earlier this month via a number of hard working DIY labels: Zegema Beach Records (CAN/NZ), Shove Records (IT), Through Love Records (GER), IFB Records (US) and Don’t Live Like Me Records (US). Oh, I look forward to experiencing at least some of it live. Dive into right now and share your thoughts in the comments below.
