After nearly two decades of silence, California-based melodic punk band Audio Karate springs back into the music scene with fresh studio recordings. The return was catalyzed in 2018 after the band reunited to reissue their iconic LPs Space Camp and Lady Melody. The band’s renewed energy was further fueled by festival appearances and performances alongside punk legends like the Descendents.
Venturing back into the studio in 2022, Audio Karate recorded “A Show of Hands” and revisited “A Monster in Disguise,” enhancing it with modern production techniques that give it a compelling punch. The result of this work is being released in a limited edition 7-inch EP via Iodine Recordings, scheduled to hit the shelves on June 30. The EP is adorned with artwork from Jeff Caudill of Gameface and includes photos from their recent studio sessions and tours, with mastering by Jack Shirley, known for his work with Joyce Manor and Jeff Rosenstock.
The band’s guitarist, Jason Camacho, highlights “A Show of Hands” as their first recording of the current era, noting it as a reflection of AUDIO KARATE’s distinctive sound, complete with rolling bass lines, catchy riffs, husky vocals, and hooky choruses.
Excitingly for fans, the band is also hitting the road for a series of tour dates across the US. This renewed energy from AUDIO KARATE is a testament to their lasting impact on the punk genre and their dedication to their craft.
