“Escape” – UK metallic hardcore act ABSENTEES premiere fierce session video

1 min read

Basingstoke, UK’s noisy hardcore act ABSENTEES are teaming up with Smithsfoodgroup DIY label from The Netherlands (Employed To Serve, God Mother, Second Guessing and Drawbacks) for their EP ‘Escape/Silence’, to be released on August 30th! The offering sees the band (featuring ex-PARISO and current MODERN RITUALS members) embrace a more raw sound than on previous release, finding new energy in tracking all the instruments live at bassist Tom Hill’s studio The Bookhouse. Shot by Thomas Lisle Coe-Brooker, the video for one of the songs can be seen below!

ABSENTEES will play an EP release show at Flashback Records’ Shoreditch store with their friends in Funeral Parlour (ex-Scared Of Everything) on August 30th (RSVP here).

Vocalist Dan Strachan commented on both tracks ‘Escape’ and ‘Silence’:

“Escape: this song is about how broken the system is. That no matter what we do, our best intentions are never fulfilled due to the powers that be who interfere with our daily lives.

Silence: this song is about all of those people who suffer in silence and don’t feel comfortable enough to share their emotions because of potential social stigmas and constraints.”
