Xibalba, a band celebrated for its unyielding presence in metal and hardcore, has just unleashed their latest creation, ‘Aztlán,’ a four-track EP that marks a significant addition to their discography. This new release follows their acclaimed 2020 album ‘Años En Infierno‘ and represents a continued evolution of their distinctively heavy, death-metal infused hardcore sound.

Recorded and mixed by Taylor Young at The Pit, and released under the Closed Casket Activities label, ‘Aztlán’ showcases Xibalba in a form as intense and formidable as ever.

The band, expressing their excitement for the EP, notes it’s been three years since their last release with Southern Lord Records. Reuniting with Taylor Young for the first time since 2017, this EP also signifies a momentous occasion for Xibalba, as they officially join the Closed Casket Activities roster, a label with which they have a history dating back to a 2012 split release with Incendiary.

For vinyl enthusiasts, a special one-sided 12″ with a screen-printed B-side is set to ship in January. Pre-orders for this collector’s item are currently available.

Comments the band:

“First and foremost we just want to say we’re very excited for this new EP to come out. It’s been three years since the release of Años En Infierno on Southern Lord Records. We had the chance to work with Taylor Young again for the first time since 2017. We’re releasing our new EP, Aztlán, on Closed Casket Activities with four new track, one giving a nod to our past with the label. Our first release with them was a split with Incendiary in 2012 so now officially being signed to the label is a full circle moment. Lyrically we have some visceral images that can be evoked when you read the statement we’re here to make. With that being said, fans can expect classic XIBALBA but will also be surprised by some new sounds coming from their speakers. For those wondering if Xibalba is going away, worry not… XIBALBA IS FOREVER.”
