Icelandic punk quartet MUCK sign to Prosthetic Records

1 min read

MUCK are a fresh and urgent export from the vibrant Icelandic creative underground. Formed back in Reykjavík in 2007 as young scholars of all things raw and heavy, the band have organically crafted their riotous sound from hardcore roots and throughout several EPs and their ‘Slaves’ LP back in 2012.

MUCK have learnt their art through frenetic live performances, equally happy at no-holes-barred DIY punk shows and experimental performance art events. They’ve toured the European underground clubs with Denmark’s Hexis and Whorls, broadened their horizons across the US with performances alongside Ceremony, Castevet, and Citizen’s Arrest and found themselves invited to perform at New York’s art residency, Clocktower in Lower Manhattan.  Closer to home, they’ve also commanded a premium slot at the prestigious Eistnaflug Festival and been a serious highlight at the Icelandic Airwaves events over the past few years. You can watch a recording of the band performing one of their tracks, “Nirvana,” live on KEXP radio taken from 2013′s Icelandic Airwaves Festival below!

Returning to the studio with Icelandic producer, Fridrik Helgason, they recorded their brand new album “Your Joyous Future” and Alan Douches(Converge, Baroness, The Dismemberment Plan) completed the mastering. Upon hearing the new opus, Prosthetic Records were keen to sign the band and the pact was signed. Venomous, forward-thinking and discordant, “Your Joyous Future” will be released by Prosthetic in February 2015.

The guys from MUCK have this to say : “We’re super excited about being a part of the Prosthetic Records roster. Having the support of such a bad-ass label will help us move to the next level as a band. Our new album was recorded live in our studio and we feel like it really captures the energy that we’re about. It’s a punk album and it hits pretty hard. 2015 is our year. Get ready.”

In the meantime, the band will play two special showcases at this year’s Icelandic Airwaves Festival in Reykjavík which kicks off this week:
11/5 – Húrra @ 10:30 PM (On venue)
11/6- Gamla Bíó @ 9:00 PM (On venue)
