For a lot of people here, it will be difficult and take a long time to get back to some kind of normalcy or get close to replacing what was lost. But I was astounded by the response of regular people here that stepped up and rescued and helped others.”

For more on the release, check out what front-man Nick Woods from Direct Hit, and Brian Pretus from PEARS had to say about joining forces:
Nick Woods: “We’re really proud of how this record turned out, not only because all the tunes on it are rippers, but because we got to collaborate on it with some of our best friends. Splits like these rarely work with everyone involved playing to the others’ strengths. I’m really glad the stars aligned here in a way where the whole thing came together as a unified release, from one of the coolest record labels in the biz right now.”
Brian Pretus: “We’ve been talking about doing this for a long time, since like one of our first tours, which was with Direct Hit. It’s pretty surreal that we finally got to make it happen, and I couldnt be happier with how both sides of this thing turned out.”

Guitarist Chris Alfieri says,
“This record is gonna feel like such a staggering departure for a lot of people. Honestly, to us, it was the direction we were heading in all along, with or without harsh vocals. Why not shorten the name and have a fresh start all together? To say it’s not as heavy and dark would be a complete lie, but we definitely take some chances in the other direction as well. The record thematically has threads that oscillate between personal experience and looking through the lens of the larger experience of humankind recently…which has been grim, but at least we’re all in it together. To me the record sounds like anxiety, paranoia, apathy, exhaustion, and loss rolled into one, but with a touch of relentless hope that helps you get out of bed in the morning, or early afternoon.”
Grand Rapids, MI trio, COSMONAUT released their final album, “The Late Great Cosmonaut” on September 11th. Gritty but catchy, their sound has been described by No Echo as “Part post-hardcore, part alt. rock, a little emo/indie, all gold. Every bit.” The band got a lift when space-rock hero Matt Talbott (HUM) approached them to produce the album. Speaking on the connection, Brian George (guitar/vocals) relates “we recorded our last album at his place with Al and Eric (Shiner/The Life and Times) and I think he liked what he heard. He ended up contacting us just as we were getting ready to record our next album. HUM is one of our favorite bands and the timing was right, so it was a no-brainer.” Rounded out by Rodney Johnson (bass) and Josh Stacey (drums/vocals), Cosmonaut formed in 2012 (though all the members have played together previously in other projects). Since then the band has already recorded an EP with Steve Albini and shared stages with such notables as Death From Above 1979, Greys, The Life And Times and Animal Lover.

Milan, Italy’s old school hardcore punk rockers MY OWN VOICE release new record “Shipwrecked”, a set of refreshingly gritty, melodic tracks and a vital injection of positive energy for these turbulent times. Listen below and GO HERE to read our interview, posted earlier this year.
“Shipwrecked” was released in South East Asia through Wanted Records, from Penang, Malaysia. This tape means a lot to us: It is the proof that the DIY spirit has spread Worldwide, that Worldwide, that hardcore unites kids from all sorts of different countries beyond borders, differences, nationalities. It testifies that ideas and values can travel free, if dedicated people decide to put their efforts into it. This is what hardcore means to us: to stand united against injustice, to support each other, to be wide awake defying every power’s deception. To resist control, together, forever. From Italy to Malaysia to Indonesia: fuck the borders!

The time has come. The debut full-length album, from the universe that grew in-between what is and what isn’t, is slowly approaching our planet from behind the asteroid belt. No estimates can be given on the damages, or the crater size. Just know this. We are on this ship together, going through the same internal turmoil, just trying to find an answer, a piece of what’s left of the pie

COMEBACK KID released their new album Outsider and have premiered a new official video for ‘Hell Of A Scene’.
The band’s vocalist Andrew on the track and their new album:
“‘Hell Of A Scene’ was intended to be a song brighter in mood. We always had a laugh writing and playing this song in rehearsals, but it always felt right. One of my favourites on the new album. We shot this video in Aalborg, Denmark while on tour this last summer during some down time an afternoon before a show that night. It was very on the fly and spontaneous. Pleased to premiere it on our album release day.”
“To release our 6th studio album, with a fresh start on Nuclear Blast / New Damage is a significant moment for us. It really feels like we are starting a whole new chapter with the band. On this record we allowed ourselves to step outside the box a little more musically while still binding to the traditional Comeback Kid sound, resulting in what I think is our most dynamic material yet.”

Milwaukee’s TELETHON will release an ambitious new concept album titled ‘The Grand Spontanean: A Tale Told In Five Acts’, on September 29 via Halloween Records. Produced by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Jeff Rosenstock, Joyce Manor, The Smith Street Band) ‘The Grand Spontanean’ is a cosmic trip of punk rock filtered through straight up rock n’ roll a la Thin Lizzy, Weezer’s anthemic power pop and every other style in which they could meld their sound into. It resulted in a true blue rock opera about a self-centered, internet addicted twenty-something realizing the world’s about to end in a storm of noise and chaos.
The sprawling, 30-track LP features appearances by Laura Stevenson (on “On Companionship” and “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve”), Chris Farren (on “Stillwave”). The Hold Steady‘s Franz Nicolay (who plays multiple instruments all over the record and contributes spoken word on “The Sudden Walk”) , Roger Lima of Less Than Jake (on “The Runner’s High”), and Peter Hess (The Hold Steady, TV on the Radio).
Telethon will be taking ‘The Grand Spontanean’ on the road this fall, including an appearance at this year’s Fest 16.

No Clean Singing magazine is exposing the population to the gnarled new ACEPHALIX track, “Excremental Offerings,” off the band’s Decreation LP, which is being unleashed through 20 Buck Spin later this month. GO HERE to listen and check out another 2 previously released tracks below.
“‘Excremental Offerings’ is about our ambivalent relationship to the shit we carry around inside of us and how we’d rather rot internally before we show other people the shittiest – or the most true, the most real – manifestations of who we are, “offers ACEPHALIX. “There’s a terror of emptiness motivating our spiritual constipation, and the excremental offering is the moment when we surrender to this terror at our core. While this is my best explanation of the lyrics, it’s really just another death metal song about death.”

Rotterdam’s noisy, atmospheric post punk rockers THE LUMES premiered a new single called “Compulsion“, coming from their new record Envy, to be released via Crazy Sane Records in early October. The well-composed, visceral track is a great treat for fans of PROTOMARTYR, DIE NERVEN, METZ, or THE PIXIES, and easily invites for repeated listens. Check it out below and stay tuned to hear to whole record soon!
Make no mistake, The Lumes wholly embrace and relish their predicament as genuine misfits, instead of running away from it. The band’s manic creative force Maxime Prins is even more affluent in his arresting howls of anguish. Lennard van der Voort’s skulking bass throbs and Mitchell Quitz’ discordant drum incursions make The Lumes sound like a band in the midst of devouring itself.
This self-immolation isn’t motivated by destruction, but by a warped sense of esteem and vanity, owning up to the innermost feelings, no matter how ugly or perverted they get. The Lumes are now fully familiarized and comfortable with their inner darkness: their loose-cannon outbursts are more precise, more deliberate and, ultimately, more resounding than ever before. Welcome my son, welcome to the machine.
Melodic punk rock act SECRET SPIRIT premiered a new song and video called “Motherfucker,” teasing the band’s debut record, to be released in late 2017.
Classic punk rockers THE REPLACEMENTS shared a duo of tracks recorded during one of their final shows in 1986 before the departure of original guitarist Bob Stinson. Setergum magazine explained:
Sometimes, things take time. On 2/4/1986, the Replacements, having just made their major-label debut with Tim and earned a lifetime ban from NBC for swearing live on Saturday Night Live, played one of their final shows before the departure of original guitarist Bob Stinson at the legendary Maxwell’s in Hoboken, New Jersey. The fiery 29-song set was captured on tape by a 24-track mobile studio, but after Stinson’s exit and the band’s decision to begin recording Pleased To Meet Me, the masters sat on a shelf at Warner Music collecting dust until 2007, when they were properly mixed and mastered. Fast forward another decade, and For Sale: Live At Maxwell’s 1986 is finally seeing an official release, including new liner notes from Trouble Boys author Bob Mehr and unearthed photos from concert photographer Caryn Rose, thanks to the reissue experts at Rhino. We’ve already heard “Can’t Hardly Wait” and “I’m In Trouble,” and now the band have shared their 1986 performance of the classic Let It Be opening cut “I Will Dare,” which sounds just as vital now as it did then. Listen below.

Technical death metal / deathcore act THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD premiered a new single called “Obitual,” a track featuring original vocalist Anthony Gunnells. The song comes from the band’s new album Disomus, and was described by the band’s vocalist Danny Rodriguez in the following words:
“Obitual’ is in a first person narrative of someone being buried alive by a cult. It blends elements of the ‘Bloodlust sound’ with more of our recent progressive songwriting direction. We were excited to get Anthony to do a bit on this track. It personally brings me back to ’05 every time I hear it.”
Bobby Mahoney and the Seventh Son are sharing the second single off of their summer-ending split, “Another Deadbeat Summer.” The song premiered on Glide Magazine who said, “The song has is all: wild saxophone and triumphant piano playing, shredding guitars, and Bobby Mahoney’s fired up vocal snarl to make it feel like an ultimate slacker anthem.”
Bobby Mahoney (lead vox, guitar) shared,
“‘Another Deadbeat Summer’ was written with Jon Alba (ABC Bangor, Living the Gimmick, original Seventh Son Member) in 2014 for ‘Friends in Low Places’, and since then it has been a staple of ours both on stage, and on YouTube. We did a video for the song with Zack Morrison that got us some attention, and it has become part of pretty much every show since. People sing along and know that song usually more than the others. We felt that the way we played it then versus now has changed enough to where we wanted to re-record it. It’s faster now, and has a few extra instruments and vocals on it – it just feels more live and out of control and I’m very happy about it. Zack Sandler guests on saxophone and Andrew threw on some piano in the choruses. This is probably the catchiest song I’ll ever write, and every time I play it, I get to feel like I’m 19. I always find new ways to enjoy playing this song.”
