Introducing: SPIRAL HEADS (members of MGMT, AMERICAN NIGHTMARE, DOOMRIDERS)!

1 min read

Hailing from New York/Boston, SPIRAL HEADS are a three-piece punk act that combine the melodic sense of THE WIPERS and early NIRVANA with the energy of seminal bands like THE DAMNED and BUZZCOCKS. The result is something that would fit in perfectly with the early ’80s SST Records catalogue.

The band features Simon Doom on bass/vocals (MGMT), Jim Carroll (AMERICAN NIGHTMARE) on guitar/ vocals, and Q (DOOMRIDERS) on drums. The story of SPIRAL HEADS began back when Jim and Simon met as teenagers while attending guitar camp in Boston. Jim and Q were also playing together in the A-TEAM at that time. Fast forward all these years later, they?ve joined forces to pay homage to their musical roots as SPIRAL HEADS.

Their debut ‘S/T’ EP, which hits stores on October 25th, was recorded in-between New York and Boston and was mixed by Doug Boehm (Elliot Smith, Guided By Voices). The first pressing is limited to 500 copies.

Since you’re here, check out BRIDGE NINE: The First Nine Years:

The First Nine Years chronicles the grass roots of the Bridge Nine record label. Launched in 1995 in a college dorm by its 19 year old founder, Chris Wrenn, the Bridge Nine label is now in its third decade of releasing music for his favorite bands. These 128 pages tell the story of how the label got its start, how relationships forged in high school lead to its earliest releases, & how each band was connected to the next by a single degree of separation as its reach expanded from a few local bands to having one of the most actively touring rosters in the underground, building awareness for the label worldwide. To support that growth without the benefit of loans & years before online crowdfunding, Chris headed over to Fenway Park and peddled stickers and t-shirts to sports fans as they left the stadium. Roommates, interns & members of bands on the label helped fuel one of the largest sports rivalries while earning the money to invest in the brand, as its discography continued to grow.
