Italian hardcore act TO KILL returns with new limited EP for Venezia Hardcore Fest!

5 years after their last show, influential hardcore act TO KILL are back with their first release in 9 years and reunion show at Venezia Hardcore Fest this May! Playing live truly defines a band like us, so writing songs has always just been a part of something bigger, given how much To Kill has meant to us – and hopefully to some of you.

When we decided to reunite for this show, we started practicing and everything came out so naturally that the flow brought us to write two new songs. Thinking about it, we then decided to record them since they mean something in the journey of this band: they represent the five of us getting back together after all these years doing what we like doing together, and sharing them seems the right thing to do for us. So we went to our lifetime friend Alex’s studio, Hell Smell, and everything felt so smooth.

We truly believe these songs are some of the best we’ve ever written, so we wanted to do something special with them and we decided to add two more songs to the recording. The first is a song off our first record which we always wanted to record with a recording and an execution which would more sound like us. The second song is truly meaningful to us, since it’s a cover of a Growing concern’s song, a band which means a lot to us. We really wanted to do that and dedicate this tribute to our friend Gianni, who’s no longer among us.

All of this doesn’t absolutely mean that we’re getting back together or that there will be more To Kill releases after this one: don’t read inot this anything more than it says. You know we like being totally transparent.

So, for the Venezia Hardcore fest we’re releasing a coloured 7”, with an illustration made by our friend Marcello Crescenzi, it will be limited to 350 hand numbered copies and will never be repressed.

We wanted this 7” to be released by a friend who knew exactly what we wanted: no bullshit no attitudes or egos. So Gab and Epidemic Records will take care of the preorder and of the physical sale of the vinyl. All the instructions will be given in time: there will be ways to order it or to grab one at the festival. Everything concerning the release will be handled by him.

The songs will obviously also be online,forever for free, on bandcamp and on every existing streaming platform. You won’t need physically buy the 7” in order to listen to it, no fear.

We just hope you could maybe learn the songs by the show: that would really help us in playing them, you know how much you being a part of the show is important to us.

Suonare dal vivo è davvero ciò che definisce un gruppo come il nostro, quindi scrivere le canzoni è sempre stata solo una parte di una cosa più grande, visto quanto hanno significato per noi – speriamo anche per alcuni di voi – i To Kill.

Quando abbiamo deciso di fare questa reunion e abbiamo ripreso in mano gli strumenti, però, tutto è stato così naturale che la corrente ci ha portato a scrivere due pezzi nuovi, quasi di getto. Ragionandoci un po’, abbiamo poi deciso di registrarli perché significano comunque qualcosa, nella storia di questo gruppo: siamo noi cinque che ci ritroviamo dopo tanti anni per fare ciò che ci piace fare insieme e condividerli ci sembra la cosa giusta da fare.

Dunque, siamo entrati in studio, all’Hellsmell del nostro amico di sempre e compagno di viaggio Alex, e tutto è sembrato come sempre.

Crediamo, sinceramente, che questi due pezzi siano alcuni tra i migliori che abbiamo mai scritto, e ci è sembrato giusto farne qualcosa di significativo, quindi a questi abbiamo scelto di aggiungere altri due brani. Il primo è un pezzo del nostro primo disco che avremmo sempre voluto valorizzare con una produzione e un’esecuzione che ci somigliassero di più. Il secondo, a cui teniamo particolarmente, è una cover dei Growing Concern, un gruppo che per noi significa moltissimo. Ci tenevamo a farlo e a dedicare idealmente questo tributo al nostro amico Gianni che non è più tra noi.

Questo non significa assolutamente che ricominceremo a suonare, né che ci saranno altre uscite dei To Kill successive a questa: non leggete dietro questo annuncio più di quello che c’è scritto. Sapete che ci piace essere assolutamente trasparenti.

Insomma, per il Venezia Hardcore fest faremo uscire un 7” colorato, illustrato dal nostro amico Marcello Crescenzi, limitato a 350 copie numerate a mano e che non verrà ristampato. Abbiamo voluto che il 7” uscisse per un’etichetta di una persona amica e che sapesse quello che vogliamo: niente stronzate, niente attitudini fuori luogo. Gab della Epidemic Records, quindi, si occuperà del pre-order e della vendita e distribuzione fisica dei vinili. Tutte le indicazioni arriveranno per tempo, non temete: ci sarà modo di ordinare i vinili e di riceverli oppure di ritirarli al concerto. Tutto quello che riguarda il vinile passerà per lui.

I pezzi saranno ovviamente anche online, gratis per sempre, su bandcamp e su tutte le piattaforme di streaming. Non dovrete comprare il 7” per sentirli, non temete. Diciamo che se li imparaste in tempo per il concerto sarebbe per noi di grande aiuto, visto quanto è importante per noi il vostro contributo.
