Danish death metal/metallic hardcore collective Lifesick has kicked off the year with a gripping video for their track “Peace Through Superior Firepower.”
The song is featured on their latest full-length album, Loved By None, Hated By All, which dropped last fall via Metal Blade Records. Known for their raw and unflinching approach, Lifesick continues to carve their niche in the genre with ferocity and precision.
“Peace Through Superior Firepower” delves into the contradictions of humanity’s approach to achieving peace through violence. As the band aptly describes, “The idea of trying to spread peace around the world with bombs and guns is one of the most bizarre aspects of the human race. Some of us are raised with love, and a subtle hint of hate for others.”
The song balances heavy and melodic elements, integrating sing-along vocal parts and layers of samples. A standout feature is the pitched-down guitar in the breakdown, adding a distinctive texture to the track. The band summarizes its chilling essence with a single line: “Only the dead see the end of war—a haunting anthem of vengeance.”
Loved By None, Hated By All is the band’s third full-length and their debut on Metal Blade Records. It represents a significant evolution in their sound and creative process. Recorded at Jacob Bredahl’s Dead Rat studio, the album benefited from Bredahl’s expanded role in pre-production. According to the band, “He came down to our rehearsal room where we played all the songs for him live, so he could add his touch to each song or edit stuff that we might have been a little blind to from playing the songs too much.”
The mixing was handled by Taylor Young at The Pit, bringing a fresh nuance to Lifesick’s sound, while industrial samples and sound design were provided by the noise collective John Cxnnor. These additions unify the album’s themes of despair, anger, and nihilism, tying together the sonic and visual elements.
LIFESICK will take on a short run of European live dates this April with support from special guests Tchert. See all confirmed shows below.
