Lyon blackened post metallers CELESTE premiere new track “Des torrents de coups”!

November 18, 2021
2 mins read

Lyon blackened post metallers CELESTE have premiered their new massive track “Des torrents de coups”, off their new album “Assassine(s)”, to be released on January 28th via Nuclear Blast! Listen and check out the official music video above, directed by GrΓ©goire Orio.

Having played more than 500 shows around the world, including appearances at several prestigious extreme music festivals (Hellfest, Copenhell, SummerBreeze, Brutal Assault, Roadburn, Psycho Las Vegas…), with one EP and five albums under their belt, CELESTE has succeeded in creating their own musical atmosphere and are today considered to be one of the most important bands of the “French Avant-Garde Black-Metal” scene.

For 15 years, the French metal band has produced a hybrid music; rich in influences, as difficult to define as it is easy to recognise. Cleverly mixing black metal, post-metal, and hardcore sounds, CELESTE has created a music as singular as it is violent, oppressive, and dark.

After their debut EP Pessimiste(s) was released in 2006, the band’s first full-length Nihiliste(s) followed shortly after in 2007. CELESTE continued to sink into an ever more intense darkness with 2009’s Misanthrope(s), then 2010’s Morte(s) NΓ©e(s) which pushed their creative process to its extreme, closing an evolutionary thread.

In 2013, CELESTE returned with a double album titled Animale(s) containing 69 minutes of lethal music – it pushed the French metal band’s musical universe even further. It made its way onto many β€˜Best Metal Albums of 2013’ lists in the international music press, with accolades from publications such as Pitchfork, Metal Hammer and Metal Sucks. Animale(s) solidified CELESTE’s position amongst the pillars of the French extreme metal scene.

In 2017, after several tours, the band began working on new material and recorded InfidΓ¨le(s), their fifth album. This new opus revealed new shades of darkness to the band’s fans and allowed CELESTE to conquer an ever-growing audience.

After joining the label NUCLEAR BLAST, CELESTE will release their new album “Assassine(s)”in 2022, recorded and mixed by Chris Edrich (Gojira, The Ocean, Leprous, Tesseract) and will go on an international tour to spread the darkness of its music.

Comments the band: “We can’t resist to give you more news… Here is the cover artwork of our new album “Assassine(s)”! Which will be released on January 28th via Nuclear Blast! A huge thank to Mira Nedyalkova for her beautiful photos and to Alexandre Albisser for this amazing render.

“Assassine(s)” will be available as a digipak CD with a 20-page booklet, but also as a gatefold vinyl with a printed discobag and an insert. As usual, you can expect for high standard releases. Will this become your favorite artwork ?”

Having always been an immersive and sensory experience, the shows of French avantgarde black metallers CELESTE will now be taken to a next level on their upcoming European Tour for March and April 2022. Thanks to the band’s intensive collaboration with video artists and light designers, CELESTE will drag you down into their tubulent world of darkness, captivating strobes and hypnotic red headlamps.

Together with their new label mates CONJURER from the UK, CELESTE will kick off the tour in their home country France and play an extensive 30-days-run through no less than 16 countries, and premiere the new songs from their upcoming studio album that is soon to be released via Nuclear Blast.

“This is going to be the longest tour we’ve ever done”, vocalist/bassist Johan Girardeau comments. “We’re so eager to be back on the road. We’ve worked relentlessly to bring something so unique on stage that comes as close as possible to our artistic vision. It will be something you won’t ever forget!”

Tickets are available here.
