MY FICTIONS to release their debut album in July

Massachusetts based post hardcore band MY FICTIONS will release their debut album “Stranger Songs” this July via Topshelf Records. Check out the official word below and stream their latest split with THE SADDEST LANDSCAPE below.

The label commented:

I played a game of Settlers of Catan last night with My Fictions’ Bryan Carifio. We both lost. Badly. Today, though, we all win because we’re announcing that we’ll be releasing the band’s debut full length album, Stranger Songs on July 1st of this year!

The band self-recorded and mixed the record with Will Killingsworth (Ampere, Orchid, Vaccine) at Dead Air Studios handling the mastering.

Stranger Songs is a 28-minute audible display of manic intensity. The ten tracks each plunge deep down into a darkness that was only teased at on the band’s 2012 EP, Always Trapped. The songs are certainly “stranger” than anything the band has released before: sometimes there are mere seconds between the chaotic blast beats and the slow, crushing riffs that the album attacks with. However, the true “stranger” in Stranger Songs is the one that lyricist Bryan Carifio seems fixated on becoming, as identity is a constant battle screamed over songs wavering between catharsis and collapse.

On Stranger Songs, My Fictions have perfected their craft. The signature atmospheric dread that the band offers on this release is a mix of anger and sadness that is impossible to avoid. The new album is a collection of songs written at an emotional low, and My Fictions are determined to drag the listener down with them.

I’m fucking bummed.

“Stranger Songs” is the follow-up to the band’s acclaimed 2013 split with label mates The Saddest Landscape, which included a 13-minute-long track that was written collectively by both bands.

Look for more details about artwork, track listing and pre-orders next month.

Thanks!
