Georgia mathcore band The Holy Ghost Tabernacle Choir (THGTC) has unveiled Farther Than Ever Before: A Tribute to Transatlanticism, a full-album cover compilation of Death Cab for Cutie’s seminal record, set for release on March 7, 2025.
This ambitious project, part of their new initiative Sensitivity Patterns, brings together 11 artists to reinterpret one of alt-rock’s most influential albums while raising funds for Global Action for Trans Equality (GATE) and the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF).
The compilation features contributions from bands spanning blackened mathcore, shoegaze, post-hardcore, emo, and electronic genres, offering fresh takes on Death Cab’s introspective tracks.
The tracklisting is as follows:
- The New Year – The Holy Ghost Tabernacle Choir
- Lightness – Dying Whale
- Title and Registration – KOFIN
- Expo ‘86 – Funeral Homes
- The Sound of Settling – Like Father
- Tiny Vessels – IWAN
- Transatlanticism – +CAREGIVER+
- Passenger Seat – Dreamwell
- Death of an Interior Decorator – DROUGHT
- We Looked Like Giants – Hidden Mothers
- A Lack of Color – Fainting Dreams
In a statement about the project, THGTC emphasized their commitment to addressing social challenges through music:
“As situations in the world get consistently more dire for many different people, we are constantly looking for opportunities to help in whatever way we can. Sometimes, issues lie in various corners of the world, while other times, they live in our own backyard. We have personally been asking ourselves questions about if there is a way to make more of a tangible difference doing what we love to do.”
This release marks the launch of Sensitivity Patterns, an ongoing project by the band aimed at creating full-album cover compilations to support charitable causes. Every dollar raised from digital sales and limited physical formats—including CDs and cassette tapes—will directly benefit GATE and PCRF.
The first single from the project, “Death of an Interior Decorator,” comes from DROUGHT, who transform the reflective original into a visceral post-hardcore piece reminiscent of Touché Amoré and mewithoutYou.
Produced with precision, the track was mixed by Jay Maas (Defeater, Title Fight, Ceremony) and mastered by Kyle Hoffer (Cathedral Bells, Camp Trash).
The compilation is available for preorder via THGTC’s Bandcamp, with limited-edition physical formats also up for grabs. Fans can expect two more singles before the full release in early March.
