In the vibrant world of hardcore music, New England’s very own Broken Vow emerges with renewed vigor and tenacity. Today marks a significant chapter in their journey with the release of their much-anticipated debut album, “Anthropocene,” under the renowned Triple B Records label.

Drenched in the electrifying spirit of the ’90s metallic hardcore, the album has already garnered praise from renowned outlets such as Stereogum, which lauds the band’s authentic and impassioned sound. The power and ferocity of Broken Vow’s tracks are vividly highlighted by BrooklynVegan’s simple yet apt description: “Ferociously heavy hardcore.”

Distorted Sound offers a compelling insight, expressing that “Anthropocene” is a “visceral, rage-fueled work,” hinting at a brighter, explosive future for the band.

This nine-track album encapsulates the raw energy reminiscent of Broken Vow’s captivating live performances. With metallic riffs that ensnare the senses and a vocal delivery that echoes with fervor, the band has indeed delivered a sonic treat for the ages.

The meticulous craft behind the album owes its brilliance to the combined efforts of Chaz at The Spot, New Haven, CT, for recording and mixing, and Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios, Amherst, MA, for mastering.

Drawing inspiration from iconic bands like Strife, xRepentancex, and Earth Crisis, Broken Vow introduces a seamless blend of crushing intensity and melodic respite. The album’s lyrics aim to inspire and echo the sentiments of bands they revered in their formative years.

The album’s thematic depth is poignantly articulated by the band’s vocalist, Tommy Harte.

He describes a generation grappling with looming environmental concerns, anger at leadership’s inaction, and the simultaneous feelings of hopelessness and unwavering hope. In a world teetering on the brink, “Anthropocene” serves as a clarion call, urging humanity to acknowledge its power and potential.

Songs like “Burning Your Throne” set an electrifying tone for the album, while tracks like “1.5” and “Reversal” delve deep into the intricate relationship between man and nature. “No More Air” stands out as a poignant culmination, beautifully merging classic metalcore with intricate chord progressions, a mesmerizing piano interlude, and heartfelt lyrics.

The passionate team behind this magnum opus includes Tommy Harte on vocals, Harrison Sacco and Evan Stein on guitars, Max Holsbeke on drums, and Olin May on bass.

Fans can look forward to experiencing Broken Vow’s raw energy firsthand as they embark on a series of performances, starting in Holyoke, MA, on November 1st and wrapping up in Troy, NY, on November 24th.
