Norwegian experimentalists MOE shares new single; announce new album

September 5, 2016
1 min read

After two years of actively touring the world in support of their critically acclaimed “3”album, Norwegian noise-rockers MoE now return with their fourth studio album titled“Examination Of The Eye Of A Horse”. The debut single from the album, “Wild Horses” can be heard now exclusively via Terrorizer Magazine and below.

Produced by Jørgen Træen (Jaga Jazzist/Sondre Lerche/Susanne Sundfør/Golden Serenades/Noxagt) and featuring guest contributions from Japanese noise legend Pain Jerk and Norwegian percussionist Ane Marthe Sørlien Holen, “Examination Of The Eye Of A Horse” consists of six new tracks of the trio’s signature, loud and violent noise-rock sound and is scheduled for release on October 14th via Conrad Sound and Wallace Records.

Talking to Terrorizer, bassist/vocalist Guro Skumsnes Moe said:
“The lyrics on “Wild Horses” draws inspiration from the contradictions in the so called logic of war, human defeat, and to be seduced by war. On the other hand, I don’t know what it is about. Just like music or riffs, I can’t tell where it’s coming from.”

“The lyrics always grows, changes meaning, depending on who’s receiving. Just as our music.”
“Sometimes something happens, somewhere out there, and it suddenly gives the lyrics a whole new meaning. The words are scratching the surface of our society.”

“Our previous releases have focused on a live energy. ‘Examination of the Eye of a Horse’ puts the band into a more elaborate production. The collaboration with producer and mixer Jørgen Træen (known for his work with several Norwegian pop bands like Jaga Jazzist/Sondre Lerche/Susanne Sundfør, and noise oriented bands like Golden Serenades and Noxagt) brings new and unheard elements to the music and the genre. Træen adds depth and lets the compositions blossom, leaving considerably more space to the voice. Adding a whole new dimension to the music. In many ways Træen turns ‘Examination of the Eye of a Horse’ into MoE’s pop album, altering the dogmatic punk sound, in favour for a cleaner and transparent sound.”
