Post-rock band DÛRGA release `Sequoia´, powerful and ambitious new album; listen!

1 min read

The new LP from DÛRGA revolves about the modern idea of time, inquiring into the immediacy of mass consumption, the power of the capitalism in our own time and how that involves our self-isolation. ‘Sequoia’ has been released via Narshardaa Records (Germany), Nooirax Records (Spain) and Sleepless Owl Records (France) and was recorded at Ultramarinos Costa Brava (Toundra, Bala…)

Dûrga is a Spanish post-rock trio consisting of Santi (guitar and vocals), Carlos (bass and vocals) and David (drums and vocals). The band checked in on IDIOTEQ a couple of days ago with their live session video for the single “Màquia”.

Available on all digital platforms, `Sequoia´ takes a step forward and shows the evolution of Dûrga’s sound, a safe bet for those passionate about alternative rock. Listening to this album is a trip throughout post-rock, metal, hardcore and punk that fans of Caspian, Russian Circles, Fugazi or Mono are sure to enjoy. A journey where it is possible to find ambient sounds and heavy tones as well as distortions, vocals and speed rhythms. All of that without giving up their identity.

Regarding the concept behind the album, ‘Sequoia´ is a reflection about the modern idea of time, inquiring into the immediacy of mass consumption, the power of the capitalism in our own time and how that involves our self-isolation.

Sequoia trees were real before our existence and they will be here when we are gone. They are the best symbol for the passing of time trough calm and patient. That is how Dûrga wanted to create this album: with illusion, passion and being the owners of their time despite life and society obligations.

This third album has been recorded in Ultramarinos Costa Brava (Toundra, Bala) and has the support of three record labels: Narshardaa Records (Germany), Nooirax Records (Spain) and Sleepless Owl Records (France).
