French-Greek-Moroccan pack KRAV BOCA is a unique animal living in a limbo between a plethora of subgenres, both musically and visually. Slapping an all-around label on these nice fellas is not an easy job, but that’s all right. IDIOTEQ thrives on original content like that and today, we’re stoked to give you the band’s new single “KTC”, recorded with Bologna, Italy based punk band CALL THE COPS!
The new song comes from the band’s brand new album “Barrikade”, a new full length that comes out less than a year after the release of their latest offering “City Hackers“. To celebrate, apart from the track premiere, we’re giving you a special track by track rundown, spiced up by the band’s recent videos below!
“Barrikade” strikes as a much more punk and abrasive beast that condenses KRAV BOCA’s experiences, influences and encounters in recent years (more than 350 shows in the world).
“Atypical and original, our guitar-bass-drums-mandolin instrumental formation develops an uncommon aesthetic traveling between rap, punk and metal.” – says the band.
The album was mixed and mastered by sound engineer David Castel (ex-Psykup).
Intro – In the composition of this album, we’ve integrated a new instrument: the tzouras, played by our Greek friend A. Atak Tos (of the band ‘Ataxia’). It appears between the lines throughout the disc.
Vertigo Ft. Sponty – For this track, we connected with Sponty, a rising figure in greek rap. The texts reflect our current realities, from Thessaloniki to Toulouse with samples of radio shows. A context of increasingly strong police pressure, haunted b y restrictions on freedoms.
Fumigène – A tribute to our audience, who’ve gotten used to set off smoke grenade during our concerts for several years.
Brasero – This is the first track we composed for the album. We built it as a bit more electro song, in the sounds and the construction.
Barrikade Ft. Sara – We called this track “Barrikade” because it perfectly represents the spirit of the album with Sara, a figure in militant rap from Athens.
Ceinture Ft. Skalpel, HPS – With the rapper from Paris ‘Skalpel’ and the group ‘HPS’, we hijacked the different meanings of the word “belt” and what it means to us.
Synora Ft. A. Atak Tos – We wrote this track on the road. An ode to travel that traces all our meetings in Italy, Germany, y, Germany, Morocco and Greece.Morocco and Greece.
Tercian – This song was composed after the stay of one of the band members in a psychiatric hospital. Treatment with a “Tercian” type antiTreatment with a “Tercian” type anti–depressant causes many side effects. Here is a small extract…depressant causes many side effects. Here is a small extract…
Krav The Cops Ft. Call the Cops – A pure punk track with the band Call The Cops from Bologna. We composed this song in a western atmosphere, imagining a highatmosphere, imagining a high–speed car chase with the sheriff.speed car chase with the sheriff.
Ultra Ultra Ft. Brigada Flores Magon – We wanted to pay tribute to Ultra groups in football since a long time. In the state of mind, they ute to Ultra groups in football since a long time. L’État Assassine – Cover of Rockin’ Squat from the band Assassin. We brought it up to date by citing victims of recent police blunders. An analysis more relevant than ever…police blunders. An analysis more relevant than ever…
