RESTRAINING ORDER’s sophomore venture – “Locked In Time” LP coming up

2 mins read

In an evolving landscape of hardcore, Restraining Order aims to make its mark with the forthcoming release of their sophomore album, “Locked In Time,” slated for launch on July 21st under the Triple B Records label. This new offering builds on the kinetic energy and unfiltered style that catapulted their debut album, “This World Is Too Much,” into the realms of hardcore classics, while also integrating a fresh, contemporary perspective.

The first sonic morsel from the album, the single “Misled,” is available now. It is a potent, melodic anthem grappling with the profound existential challenge of self-understanding. The accompanying music video, deftly directed by Ben Clinton, captures Restraining Order in their natural element: delivering a raw and high-octane performance that resonates with their vibrant hardcore aesthetic.

Frontman Patrick Cozens, discussing “Misled,” shared an introspective note. He delves into the mystery of self, acknowledging the eternal process of self-discovery and the enigma of persisting old habits. This vulnerability mirrors the album’s contemplative ethos, demonstrating that Restraining Order’s music isn’t merely about generating noise, but about provoking thought and fostering connection.

The making of “Locked In Time” spanned from 2019 to 2022, a period of expansive exploration for the band. Having drummer Will Hirst at the helm of recording and production enabled the band to scrutinize the minutiae and to experiment with a broad sonic spectrum. While undeniably steeped in hardcore tradition, the album also flirts with elements of garage, psychedelia, and classic rock, creating a richly layered sound.

With melodic hooks intertwining with chaotic speed and complex song structures marked by fluid transitions, “Locked In Time” aims to forge a connection with listeners beyond the mosh pit. It’s an ambitious endeavour, particularly considering the band’s hectic touring schedule.

The summer will see Restraining Order hitting the road alongside bands such as Drain, Drug Church, Magnitude, and Gel, with a tour kicking off on June 12th, culminating at the Oblivion Access Festival. After this domestic tour, they’ll venture overseas for the Triple B Takeover tour with No Pressure, Sunami, Pain of Truth, and C4, with key performances at notable festivals like the UK’s Outbreak and the Netherlands’ Jera On Air.

Already pencilled into their autumn calendar is a Brooklyn gig with Gorilla Biscuits on September 9th, followed by The Fest in Florida and the Flyover Fest in Oklahoma, with additional dates to be revealed.
