Salt Lake City’s hardcore outfit, Run Into The Sun, has dropped their new EP titled “No One Sees Me / Nothing Heals Here.” This is the latest installment in a discography that started in June 2022, which includes their previous works such as the emotive “Love / Pain,” the politically charged “Cry / Blood,” and the uplifting “Try / Hope.”

Their newest EP features two tracks that delve into themes of identity and hardship, drawing musical inspiration from acts like Blacklisted, Modern Life is War, and Snapcase. The songs are notable for their robust bass and melodically intense breakdowns, all delivered through relentless vocals, giving the band a unique and energetic aura.

In an intimate commentary about the lyrics, vocalist Dan Fletcher reflects on his upbringing in Provo, Utah, a place fraught with challenges like drug abuse, depression, and high rates of suicide.

He discusses the stigmatization and marginalization of young people for reasons such as leaving the church, sexual orientation, and questioning established beliefs.

Fletcher penned the track “No One Sees Me” after a visit back to Provo, drawing connections between his own experiences and the city’s dark history, which includes the settler colonization and murder of native tribes.

Further, Fletcher elaborates on the personal struggles he faced growing up, such as grappling with ADHD, anxiety, and depression in an environment with stringent cultural norms. The song “Nothing Heals Here” is an exploration of these feelings, a lament about the tarnished innocence of youth in a place where you’re not allowed to be yourself.

Run Into The Sun’s full discography, including the new EP, is available for streaming on both Bandcamp and Spotify.

The band, which consists of Dan Fletcher on vocals, Matt Mascarenas on guitar, Chase Griffis on bass, and Drew Davenport on drums, has a lineup of upcoming performances in Salt Lake City.
