It’s been 6 years since Baton Rouge’s emotive hardcore SECRET SMOKER released their solid debut “Terminal Architecture” on Adagio830 / Protagonist Music, and we finally have the chance to taste some of their new tunes, slated for a February 1st release on their new LP “Dark Clouds” on Belladonna Records. Today, we’re giving you the first listen of the album’s opener “Steady Hands”, a great forerunner of the full thing that picks up where they left off and promises a fine new post hardcore record worth your attention!
“Dark Clouds” is the second Secret Smoker full length album and it continues the theme of raging revivalist hardcore. This is the follow up to their debut full length album, “Terminal Architecture, released in 2013. While continuing the revivalist theme, “Dark Clouds” exhibits a progression to a more urgent, expressive and angry sound.
The powerful trio features Billy Thompson on bass and vocals, Mark Waite on guitar and vocals, and Seth Martin on drums. These three are intent upon driving home passionate, forceful and rhythmic hardcore. If you like your music with dynamic movement and meaning, dig in.
