SELF DEFENSE FAMILY release new single “Awaiting Acknowledgement”!

1 min read

3 weeks prior to the release of their new EP “Performative Guilt”, prolific art post hordcore rockers SELF DEFENSE FAMILY have unveiled a new single called “Awaiting Acknowledgement”, available for streaming below!

Recorded in the Pacific Northwest, these sessions find the band exploring the more melodic end of their range, yet an underlying darkness pervades throughout. Lyrically, that somber tone is echoed, exploring themes of death and loss. As the lyrics to “Do not Wait To Be Murdered To Defend Yourself” confess, “All I can offer is songs rolling in grief”.

SELF DEFENSE FAMILY cover

Lyrics:

To death I lost a friend
Odd among the odd ones
A jock of quiet thoughts
And then somber outcomes
And I love any man
About whom it can be said
Forged and walked his path
And was never led
There’s a funny itch
When someone leaves abruptly
In those folds of grey
Like they just got stuck there

No poetry I just miss him
I won’t try to be clever I just miss him

To death I lost a friend
Odd among the odd ones
A jock of quiet moments
And then somber outcomes
And I love any man
About whom it can be said
Forged and walked his path
And was never led
