“Swing At The King” – Irish NWOTHM serpent FLASHPOINT premieres debut record

1 min read

Raging heavy riffs, fast tempos, punishing power chords that pioneered thrash metal and tons of venomous charm – that’s what we love New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal, and it’s so amazing we’re getting more and more additions to the canon by modern torchbearers that upgrade the protoplast sound with rich melodies and thick, crossover harmonies that charge their way through the individual songs. Today, we’re introducing FLASHPOINT, a new band from Ireland featuring the lads from HOLLOW TRUTH! They go by the slogan of the new wave of Irish heavy metal, and they will surely ease your work day with this manic energy charger.

FLASHPOINT is a NWOTHM project based out of Dublin, Ireland, drawing influence from various heavy metal bands such as Mercyful Fate, Spellcaster and Iron Maiden to name just a few, but with an aim to retain a harder crossover/punk edge to the music.

With members all previously playing in Irish hardcore bands such as Hollow Truth, Held Back, Last Wishes and Solar Messiah, there was a conscious decision to pursue a more traditional heavy metal sound with this project. They aim to hit the ground running with the debut release, “Swing At The King”, and dive head first into the gigging and touring circuit around Europe.

Teaming up with Ireland’s Distro-y Records and Powertrip Records out of Germany, the debut offering with be released in the near future on cassette tape with some alternate artwork and merch bundles. To back up this release there is plans to do a run of shows in the UK as well as a European tour for 2018.

Recorded and mixed by Shaun Cadogan of Last Light Recordings in Sun Studio, Dublin. Mastered by Philip Henning. Artwork & logo design by Ciarán Nolan.
