Hundreds of AU are a New Jersey and Upstate New York hardcore/screamo band whose members have histories in The Assistant, You and I, The Banner, Pellinore, Capacities, Estella and other projects. Their current work keeps hardcore, screamo and punk at the base while moving between sharp melody and chaotic intensity.
IDIOTEQ caught the band near the beginning with their 2017 demo, followed by a longer 2018 conversation about how the project came together and how its members brought their own writing into it. A 2019 piece pushed deeper into chaotic post-hardcore, and a 2021 split kept them connected to the international screamo network around Zegema Beach Records.
The next phase included “Year Two” and “Dark Like Winter” in 2023, then “Life In Parallel” in 2025. The band’s own notes for that record focus on adulthood, political unrest, loss, parenthood and growing older, with guest appearances including Geoff Rickly. In 2026, Hundreds of AU appeared in our Endless Fest feature, placing their current work inside a multi-generational NYC hardcore benefit for ABC No Rio.
