On 7 and 8 June 2025, Kyiv’s cultural venue ∄ hosted Vegan Weekend X, the tenth anniversary edition of the festival organised by Every Animal NGO, with over 20 artists under the theme “The Illusion of Safety”. Kharkiv band Behind The Flag moved from thrash and modern metal into hardcore punk and melodic punk, and sing in Ukrainian. The Shum.Rave initiative brought a Boiler Room to Sloviansk on 15 October 2021, four months before the full-scale invasion. Since the start of the full-scale war, Ukrainian electronic labels such as OCHI and mystictrax have started up or changed direction.
Igor Golubchik, who moved from Odessa to Chicago, spoke about taking Ukrainian music to audiences in North America. The fourth part of the МАПА charity compilation gathered 24 Ukrainian artists across many genres in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Odessa screamo band janpalach broke down their album “Celestials” track by track, and the “Slava Ukraini” compilation on Scottish DIY label Hunkofplastic Records gathered 46 songs, with all proceeds going to QUA to assist Ukrainian refugees.
