THE LOCUST release new music video; announce shows for late 2019

2 mins read

Influential screamy, mathy, chaotic hardcore punks THE LOCUST have recently played their first shows in 4 years and today the band is back with some great news; new music video for the song “Recyclable Body Fluids In Human Form”, coming from their 2003 album Plague Soundscapes, as well as a handful of shows in late 2019! Created by Eric Livingston, the video can be seen above.

The Locust traverse, constantly cross, and redefine the line between total chaos and perfect order. Genre-defying and boundary-blurring/destroying, The Locust are proven to be masters at their craft. What that craft is, however, still proves to be difficult to define. Band members Bobby Bray, Joseph Karam, Justin Pearson, and Gabe Serbian offer a sound far removed from genre identification: brutally ultra-violent and drenched in sci-fi-noise, gruesome insectoid keyboards and herky jerky scream/ sing vocals — described by one journalist as “a car-wreck with vocals.”

THE LOCUST live shows

After releasing Plague Soundscapes on Anti in June 2003, they solidified the markedly different sonic terrorism The Locust had began to explore and would go on to cement as their own unique creation – a glorious cacophony of synths and violent yelps arranged in the most strict and uniform sense. Many consider this album essential to the reshaping and expanding of what “hardcore” music could be, decades after its release.

After lengthy touring following the 2007 release of third LP New Erections, The Locust went on hiatus. Another archive recording was released in 2010: this time, a legendary Peel Session recorded nine years prior. In 2013, the band performed at FYF Fest and Fun Fun Fun Fest to frenzied crowds.

In the time that the band has existed, Bray, Karam, Pearson and Serbian have taken part in seemingly countless other impressive bands and projects, including Dead Cross, Le Butcherettes, Some Girls, One Day As a Lion, Swing Kids, Cattle Decapitation, Le Shok, Holy Molar, Head Wound City, INUS, Zu, Retox, Deaf Club, Planet B, and Fahih.

Video for “Recyclable Body Fluids in Human Form” created by Eric Livingston, who has collaborated artistically with bands such as Dead Cross, Prissy Whip, Planet B, Egrets on Ergot, 3TEETH, The Manx, and more.
