Two shades of post hardcore and screamo collide on the newest split from RUINA and NØMÉS TØT

2 mins read

Splits have long been a treasure trove in the post-hardcore and screamo circuits—a place where bands not only showcase their sound but also establish connections with like-minded human beings.

Bellum“, the newest co-release by our guests last year RUINA and NØMÉS TØT is no exception. This collaboration dives into themes of solitude, nature’s bittersweet beauty, and the emotional turbulence of human connection, offering an experience that feels both raw and cathartic. Combine the raw soul of screamo and emo punk with the heartbeat of Spanish essence, and you’re likely to create something that strikes straight at your heart.

RUINA

RUINA

RUINA emerged from Lleida’s scene with their debut album Abismo Floral, a release that firmly established their presence in post-hardcore/screamo circles. Known for blending ferocity with emotional depth, the band crafts music that digs into the struggles of identity, heartbreak, and internal battles. Their live performances carry the same weight, channeling authentic energy that resonates with their audience.

RUINA’s ethos is rooted in sincerity, shaped by the close bonds between its members. Their lyrics explore darkness, but not without seeking the fleeting beauty that often hides there—a connection with fans that feels as palpable as the music itself.

On Bellum, RUINA contributes two tracks, each packed with the lyrical and instrumental intensity that has become their hallmark.

“Barro y Sal”

“Barro y Sal” tackles the complexities of love and the internal battles it often provokes. Poetic lyrics weave through an emotionally charged atmosphere, amplified by the visceral instrumentation. The track feels like a storm—a raw, unfiltered exploration of passion and pain.

“Mirada Atrás”

The second track, “Mirada Atrás,” is a poignant reflection on loss and the relentless march of time. It’s a song steeped in introspection, with layers of sound that echo both anguish and hope. The result is a piece that invites listeners to confront their own emotional scars.

NØMÉS TØT

Hailing from the natural beauty of Montnegre, NØMÉS TØT is a duo that distills the nostalgia of the ’90s and early 2000s into a potent mix of alternative rock and post-hardcore.

Composed of Guillem (drums) and Albert (vocals, guitar), their music reflects the serene and chaotic duality of their surroundings.

The textures they create echo the rhythms of nature, blending organic harmonies with raw emotion.

For Bellum, NØMÉS TØT presents two tracks that encapsulate their unique ability to merge universal emotions with intimate storytelling.

“Lotus”

“Lotus” is a meditation on resilience and personal rebirth. Its lyrics delve into the struggle for self-acceptance and the search for meaning amidst hardship. The soundscape is both tender and powerful, offering a balance that mirrors the complexities of the human experience.

“Meduses”

“Meduses” explores emotional disarray—loss, the longing for connection, and the flickering hope that persists in chaos. The song pairs poetic imagery with an evocative sonic palette, creating a piece that feels like an open wound, yet strangely comforting in its honesty.

Together, RUINA and NØMÉS TØT have crafted a split that feels less like two distinct halves and more like a shared journey. Both bands lean into themes of loneliness and the delicate beauty of the natural world, creating a sonic and lyrical dialogue that feels deeply personal yet universally relatable.
