UFOMAMMUT’s “Opus Alter” details [UPDATE]

2 mins read

UFOMAMMUT have set “Opus Alter” as the title of their sequel to “Opus Primum”, which came out last April. The album, which currently has no release date, is the second in the two-part ORO series. Scroll down to read more and watch all videos that tease for the release.

The press release for the album states that, “although ORO‘s two chapters will be released months apart from each other, they must be considered as a single track in which the musical themes and the sounds appear and reappear, mutate and evolve, progressively culminating in the crushing final movement.” Taken as a whole, the ORO series is typically high-concept, aiming to explore “the concept of knowledge and its power; the magical stream controlled by the human mind to gain control of every single particle of the world surrounding us.”

Here’s the official press release:

The release of the second and final installment of UFOMAMMUT’s ORO album series, ORO: Opus Alter, is on the horizon, with a North American street date of September 18th via Neurot Recordings. In preparation for its release, following suit with previously released videos of the opening track “Oroborus” and the second song “Luxon,” today “Sulphurdew,” the third of the five tracks contained on the album has been released.

The more than twelve-minute-long visual depiction of the crushing “Sulphurdew” is viewable first via The Obelisk, who proclaimed in praise of Opus Alter: “UFOMAMMUT’s triumph with Oro is as monumental as their tones are large. Theirs is among the finest executions of space doom in the world today, and the two parts of Oro ultimately succeed in picking up where Eve left off without seeming either redundant or a step backwards from that album’s landmark brilliance.”

The limited edition 2xLP version of ORO: Opus Alter — hand-screened by some of UFOMAMMUT’s own through their unified works with Malleus Art Labs, and in conjunction with their Supernatural Cat Records label in Italy – can now be preordered by North American fans via Neurot Records’ webstore HERE, and the CD version HERE. European preorders for the 2xLP can be placed via Supernatural Cat directly HERE.

Further updates on UFOMAMMUT, including the anticipated final two anthems from the ORO series and more, will be available in the coming days.
