ZYGOTE’s 1991 album (ex-AMEBIX) reissue is out today

ZYGOTE’s 1991 album reissue is out today via Pine Hill Records! “A Wind Of Knives” is now available in North America (worldwide shipping available) and on major streaming platforms for the first time ever.

Following the 1987 breakup of Amebix, 3 of the 4 members went on to form Zygote in 1988. Featuring Chris “Stig” Miller, Robert “Spider” Richards, George “Smutpig” Fletcher, joined by Smartpils bassist Tim Crow. In the short 3-year existence of the band, they managed to produce a 1990 demo tape and a 1991 full-length, “A Wind of Knives”.

Pine Hill Records is proud to reveal the reissue of “A Wind Of Knives”, available since December 2nd 2020. This obscure, yet underground appreciated album is a lyrically grim, musically haunting piece that sits somewhere between post-punk, crust and the Amebix sound. This dark, experimental album is truly a great piece of work and you can hear the direction Amebix would have gone in had they stayed together.

This album has made minimal appearances since its original 1991 UK pressing. It is now available in North America and on major streaming platforms for the first time ever. Limited pressing of 250 pieces on silver vinyl (worldwide shipping available). Download cards included.

On this collaboration, Tino Valpa (Pine Hill Records’ founder), comments: “It’s an album I’ve been listening to since I was 16. I actually listened to more Zygote than I did Amebix and really dug it. I love both those bands. I reached out to them and it came together pretty quickly. It makes perfect sense to do. That record has had such minimal appearances over here. It’s time to make it available for once!”
