One year since our interview for IDIOTEQ, DAMIEN DONE (formerly of AS FRIENDS RUST, CULTURE, ON BODIES, MORNING AGAIN and SHAI HULUD) returns with a new record called “Curious Thing” (Mind Over Matter Records), a 7” forerunner of Damien’s full-length album, to be detailed soon! First released as the A-Side on the “Curious Thing” 7″ EP, the newest music video for the title track of the single was filmed by Three Goats Moving Pictures in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and it’s a one hell of a rock song. The new video feels almost like the TWIN PEAKS incarnate: curiously nostalgic, a bit weird and utterly unique. An ear-grabbing, weirdly dazzling trip. Listen and watch below.
The video is released in tandem with the launch of pre-orders for the Curious Thing 7″ EP, a super-limited vinyl release available on clear, smoke and black. GO HERE to grab your copy.
Enticing with delicate, narrative verses that turn on a dime to massive, swarming choruses, “Curious Thing” leaves the listener mired in a bog of undefined nostalgia, pointing vaguely to influences as far-reaching as Billy Idol, King Dude and Type O Negative, but never sounding the least bit derivative.
Filtered through Done’s signature detached croon, the song is an affirmation of post-punk, rock’n’roll prowess.
