As 20 Buck Spin prepares to release Decreation, the third LP from California’s Bay Area brutalizers ACEPHALIX, Decibel Magazine is now streaming the album early, alongside an interrogation with the gang. Listen below and go here to see the interview.
Abnormally deceased since the band’s Southern Lord-released Deathless Master five years ago, ACEPHALIX’ Decreation was recorded and mixed by Greg Wilkinson at Earhammer Studios (Vastum, Necrot, Ghoul), mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (Nails, Obituary, Black Breath), and completed with artwork by Adam Burke (Occultation, Loss, Gatecreeper, Artificial Brain).
The rotten corpse of death metal horde ACEPHALIX, the Bay Area’s beast of barbarism, has been re-animated, and the crushing delivery of Decreation leaves no bone unbroken and no skull intact. Foul American death metal maggotry eating back to life coagulated remains of hardcore’s guts. Opener “Upon This Altar” rages with d-beat ferocity morphing into a slithering puzzle of pierced flesh. Primitive savagery pervades on “Suffer (Life In Fragments)” through to the cro-magnon battering of “Excremental Offerings.” All the while an obscure weirdness that characterized the idiosyncratic deformities of certain Cannibal Corpse, Nocturnus, and Death moments arises out of the ACEPHALIX tomb.
Space rockish hardcore/metal hybrid HOLLOW EARTH have premiered their version of alt-rock adventurist FAILURE’s “Heliotropic” as the first episode of Silver Bullet Studios’ “Silver Bullet Influences” series.
Exclaim.ca mag commented:
The band show little of their metalcore past, instead providing an answer as to where their “sci-fi-based space rock-influenced doom/sludge” sound came from. Instead, the cover is fairly faithful to the original, with guitarist/vocalist Mike Moynihan leading the vocal charge with some effect-laden crooning, though the bottom-end is a bit more booming here, with crunching dirges backed by vocalist/bassist Steve Muczynski’s growling.

Denver nihilists PRIMITIVE MAN share the official video for “Victim” off the band’s impending second full-length album, Caustic.
Caustic marks PRIMITIVE MAN’s second full-length offering of soul-crushing, blackened doom and noise-ridden claustrophobia. Recorded and produced at Flatline Audio by Dave Otero (Cobalt, Cephalic Carnage, Cattle Decapitation et al), Caustic is twelve songs and over seventy-five minutes of bloodcurdling howls, abysmal tones, and dense, unsettling feedback spewing forth a cesspool of utter misery. With lyrical themes ranging from political corruption, personal struggle, and the crumbling social climate facing the world today, Caustic serves as a cataclysmic soundtrack for a world gone awry.

Providence based screamo influenced hardcore punks WORST DAYS (interviewed for IDIOTEQ earlier this year) premiere new excellent EP called “Someone Has It Worse”. The record premiered over at Zegema Beach Records’ Open Mind / Saturated Brain blog. Listen below.
“These songs were recorded as part of Will Killingsworth’s live sessions at Dead Air Studios in Amherst. It was really cool to work with him and get his opinions and takes on our songs; helping us kind of smooth everything over. These new songs (Nervous System & Inconsistency I&II) are also a lot more harsh than what we have released in the past. Alan and Josh have been experimenting a lot with delay and overdrive pedals, aiding for a more chaotic and noisy feel. And this goes without being said, but Chris’ drum work is a driving force behind these new songs.”
Austrian screamo / emoviolence band UNABLE TO FULLY EMBRACE THIS HAPPINESS (go here to check out their latest record) premiered a new song “Vulgärmarxismus For The Win”, a new track too be featured on their upcoming split with their friends from VARICELLA ZOSTER. We’re still looking for labels to (co-)release this, so if you’re a label and interested, don’t hesitate to hit us up!
Recorded at Actionberg by Stefan Platzer. Mixed by ourselves. Mastered by Will Killingsworth.
The Seventh Circle of Hell, the newest vicious offering from metallic hardcore / metalcore act BREAK THROUGH has been unleashed for streaming via Life.Lair.Regret. Records. A must to check out.
The label commented:
The Seventh Circle of Hell 7″ is now up for pre order/streaming! Following their label debut, Break Through return with four crushingly bleak tracks of Van Diemen’s land mosh metal influenced by the golden era of early 2000’s metalcore. Those who love bands like Disembodied and Damnation AD won’t be disappointed.
Russian shoegazin’ emo punks ENSSLIN are streaming their new EP “Thumbsucker”, available via a number of amazing DIY labels, Strictly No Capital Letters (UK), Wolf Town DIY (UK), Rubaiyat Records (UK), Polar Summer (Russia), Waterslide Records (Japan), and Ruined Smile (Australia).
Philly’s thrashy, female fronted hardcore punks EATEN ALIVE are streaming new songs from their upcoming Fast Break Records record Masterpiece of Ignorance, a tribute to the band’s guitarist Max Moya. Read the full message from the band and listem to the new tracks below. The Masterpiece will be available worldwide 10/13/2017 on Fastbreak Records.
Most of you have probably heard that our guitar player Max Moya died suddenly and randomly on September 15th. We have been at a loss for words.
Max was our friend and brother. We have each played music with Max for years. Frontline (’96), Heidnik (’99), The Revenge (’05), he even did gang vocals on the Kingdom demo (’06). Eaten Alive didn’t form in hopes of becoming a successful band, Eaten Alive formed as group of old friends who wanted to write and play hardcore together. Every week we laughed. We wrote songs that no one will ever love more than we do. We wrote this album and put everything we had into it. Every great riff. Every dumb idea. Our friends Joe McKay and Chris Striegel laid guest vocals, and Jotham Oliver of Wisdom in Chains did a guest track as well. We fucking love it. Max loved it. We named it Masterpiece of Ignorance.
Eaten Alive will not continue as a band. We offer the Masterpiece so you can hear what 5 friends created together in a practice space in Harrowgate/Port Richmond section Philly, laughing, joking, bickering, sweating. All profits from the album and pre-orders will go directly to Max’s family. All merch sales will go directly to them as well.
We will miss Max Moya for the rest of our lives, and feel very lucky to have been able to spend the last two years doing this band with him. We all feel that a piece of us is gone and will never be replaced. We are grateful to everyone who supported us, and also to everyone who has donated to Max’s gofundme, or raised money for his family.

Experimental, crusty metal band NIČITEL (featured on IDIOTEQ last month) have premiered a new track Národ kokotov (Nation of pricks), coming from the upcoming split 10″ with the band ZOZOO.
Toronto experimental noisy shoegaze band IRIS is streaming an excellent new record via Dog Knights Productions & Backpack Records, priving the band to come with a progressing level of musical maturity. Incredible.
The revival of Toronto band, Iris, comes with a new beginning and a new EP. There are traces of their deconstructive melancholic spirit that we came to know earlier but they have since suspended themselves deeper into the shoegaze genre and into a more experimental sound with their transformative power of guitar music. New singer and bass player Meg Boni’s silvery voice appears vulnerable yet delivers soaring above guitarists Angel Scorcia and (singer) Scott Downes, and drummer Leigh Fisk. Their talent shines throughout all four songs, with piercing and interwoven melodies, swirling guitars, and a distortion that bleeds raw emotion. Iris is a flawlessly constructed soundscape and an EP so devastatingly divine that it is impossible to listen to just one song.

Vancouver / Mexico City based post punkish indie hardcore punks PURA MANIA are streaming their debut 12” called Cerebros Punk, available now on Sabotage Records.
2014 saw them release the Ratas De Dos Patas cassette plus a couple of 7″‘s (Musica Para Gente Fea / La Estafa Musical)
This is the Debut 12″ from this great band.. new wave-tinged punk a la Blitz’s New Age with a bit of South American flavor in the vocals.
Vancouver’s Pura Manía is a catchy, scummy and all-around amazing punk rock outfit that consists of members from Fracaso and Spectres
This mix sounds quite well and reminds us of the sound of early English combos like early RIOT SQUAD, BLITZ, but also on bands like Camera Silens from France. The initial riff and the basic melody in “Cerebos Punk” strongly resembles “Teenage kicks” by THE UNDERTONES, but has a scratchy, self-willed character.
Raw, rough, stormy and melodic, the 8 songs are penned, proving that punk, pogo and protest are still aggressive and emanate a feeling of life that comes from the signature. / Underdog-Fanzine.de

Three years after building a sonic monument with “Earth Ground”, Poland’s experimental black metal band THAW return with their brand new full-length album, “Grains”, scheduled for a December 8th release via Agonia Records.
“Grains” has been once again recorded and produced by THAW at Maq Records Studio and Satanic Audio. A cover painting made by Furia’s Sars as well as appearances of Maciej Moruś (Mitch & Mitch, ex-Starzy Singers) and Stawrogin (Odraza) only add to the album’s mystery and weird magnetism.
In the past years the world of extreme music witnessed a monumental turn in black metal philosophy. A new, experimental approach stormed the genre and while many purists shook their heads in disapproval, a new age was already starting. As with every revolution, there were leaders and followers. While not being there for the initial spark, you can hardly call THAW the latter. This Polish black/experimental powerhouse was founded in 2010 by members of such acclaimed acts as Mentor, ARRM and Furia. Their music boldly fuses black metal with sludge, doom and sonic experiments, along with with noise, electronics and free-impro.
Recorded during sessions scattered over various periods of time, “Grains” are not just another step forward for the already acclaimed band. The album divided into five pieces evolves in multiple directions. There is THAW’s trademark take on black metal noise, there is drone, last but not least – there is the ability to conduct a unique narrative with music. Intensity combined with abandoning traditional structures make the new effort of one of the most forward-thinking bands an experience one of a kind. A distorted landscape where creation meets destruction perfectly painted.
This fall, THAW is touring Poland with Furia, Sacrilegium and Licho, with more dates to be announced in due time. Often praised for their energetic live appearance, THAW has a stage history with bands such as Jucifer, Altar Of Plagues or Corrections House; they also performed at festivals including Asymmetry Festival, Metalfest, OFF Festival, Under The Black Sun, Castle Party, Inferno Festival, Primavera Sound Festival and Brutal Assault. In 2015, THAW supported Behemoth on their European “Satanist” tour (alongside Bölzer).

As we are not that incapable as you might think we are, we reached the point, two years after our first demo, that we are going to release a 7”EP next year with 6 of our new songs. Here you can hear two appetizers: the first one called “Slušní češi” is a typical Trauma song, the second one called “Všechno jednou skončí” is a bit different, we are curious about your opinion about it.

Newly relocated to Brighton and Belgium, riot-grrrl influenced duo KAMIKAZE GIRLS are pleased to announce a run of UK tour dates supporting London punks Apologies, I Have None for December 2017. The pair will also be appearing at Deadbolt Festival, Might As Well Festival, Unfun Festival in the UK, and will be heading to The FEST in Florida once more later this year.
Commenting on the dates, the band said:
“We’re really looking forward to playing songs from the album live again, and so happy to be touring with Apologies – they’ve been one of our favourite bands for ages. We’re really excited for FEST too as it’s always hands-down our favourite week of the entire year. We get to hang out with all our pals that we’ve made from previous years that we only get to see a few times.”
The band’s debut album Seafoam is out now on Big Scary Monsters Records, and is the follow-up to Kamikaze Girls’ acclaimed debut EP, SAD. Exploring wider musical influences from shoegaze, fuzz-pop and the heavier side of the genre-spectrum they call home, it’s a record that feels like a weight being lifted and a focused, sharpened quill being shifted to new targets.

Scottish melodic post hardcore / punk rock band TENEMENTS have shared a new single called ‘Standing On The Backs Of Angels’, explained by the band through the following message
“Standing On The Backs Of Angels is a message for everyone who has experienced some sort of toxicity. Whether it be from a friendship, relationship, work environment, political belief or if someone is trying to step all over you to better themselves all at your expense, we have all been in a position where enough is enough and we will not be taken for granted. Standing on the backs of angels won’t help you get to heaven.”
French punk rockers CES GENS-LÀ have revealed a full stream of their upcoming third EP “Troisième Acte”. The release is due out on September 29th in digital and CD formats via Thousand Islands Records.
California-punks, SCIATIC NERVE, who feature members of Swingin’ Utters, Nothington, Western Addiction and Cobra Skulls have shared the new video for ‘Bright Lights’, taken from their debut self-titled album, out on the 13th October through Gunner Records in the UK and Europe.
Speaking on the new track, vocalist, Chris Matulich said “Bright Lights is kind of an abstract song lyrically. It doesn’t have a clear focus, and I like vague lyrics that allow listeners to find/create their own meaning. It means something different to me now than what I intended when I wrote it about walking the streets of my neighborhood in San Francisco.”
The debut album, ‘Sciatic Nerve’, is set for release on the 13th October and is packed full of minute long bursts of dangerous rock n’ roll that come heavy, fast, high in energy, and low on bullshit. The music is hard, but also melodic, creative, and fun.
With Configuração Do Lamento, the uniquely devastating album by Brazilian trio DEAF KIDS, rapidly approaching official of through Neurot Recordings next week, the tracks Veia Aberta” and “Lamina Cortante” have been made available for streaming alongside preorders.
DEAFKIDS’ Configuração Do Lamento is an untamed release, happy to juxtapose monolithic drone riffage with frantic polyrhythmic detours, the band citing the syncopated beats of African drums as a major influence. It is a guttural, scorched mutation of psychedelia, that similar intent of frying the listener’s perception, while void of anything approaching earthy wistfulness, wholly fluid in nature, paying no heed to any musical expectations other than the creators own internal logic. A bombardment of clanging percussion sits below relentless guitar battering, and a whole host of electronic tamperings, effects which in practice manage to further confound the proceedings. Using the term psychedelic in the absolute loosest sense is apt, as the band claims that “non-genre genres” are a chief source of inspiration, referencing anything from their own background in punk, right the way through to spiritual jazz, practically any form which allows the artist to experiment with the utter extremes of musical expression.
DEAFKIDS is booking new live shows across Brazil for the fall months, including their slot supporting support Neurosis during their first visit to São Paulo on the 8th of December. Expect further widespread tour news and more over the months ahead. In the meantime, watchlive performances by DEAFKIDS below and on the band’s Neurot Recordings Artist Page.

NJ emotive indie post hardcore act ARCHIE ALONE premieres new single called “Crawl,” the third and final single off of their forthcoming self-titled EP out September 30th. The song premiered on Punk News who said, “With the track’s emotive core and huge sound, it’s set somewhere between The Jesus and Mary Chain and Garbage.” The band added, “‘Crawl’ is about growing up and losing friendships. Learning about who you are and what you want. Finding yourself.”
Boston, Massachusetts’ most tuneful indie punk rockers, BORN WITHOUT BONES, have teamed with Substream Magazine to premiere their new music video for “Muscle.” The track can be heard below and is one of the many highlights from the band’s recently released full length, Young At The Bend, out now on Devil You Know Records.
Fueled by intense life upheavals, especially the passing of vocalist/guitarist Scott Ayotte’s grandmother, Young At The Bend is a lyrically dense and dark record, but not completely without light. The record’s tracks form a sort of accidental concept album, exploring the pain of grief and the confusion of aging, as well as the solace found in a renewed sense of direction. Young At The Bend was forged in a tumultuous past, but for Born Without Bones it represents a very bright future.

After selling out their Los Angeles show on December 30th, original MISFITS members Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only, and Doyle will play an additional Las Vegas show. The newly announced show will take place on Thursday, December 28 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV..
From Portland, Oregon, VITRIOL prepares the release of sophomore EP Pain Will Define Their Death, a recording that will establish this band as one of the most thrilling new prospects in extreme metal. Due for release on November 10th, Pain Will Define Their Death sets forth Vitriol’s sound in no uncertain terms. Through the EP’s three tracks, the band lashes out with a style rooted in the turn-of-the-millennium works of Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal, and Nile – death metal landmarks like Gateways to Annihilation, King of All Kings, and Black Seeds of Vengeance. Vitriol’s three members – guitarist/vocalist Kyle Rasmussen, bassist/vocalist Adam Roethlisberger, and drummer Scott Walker – attack the hallowed genre with a fresh aggression that cannot be faked. Dense, visceral, overwhelming, Vitriol’s tornado of sound is familiar but new.
Extreme metal, of the blasting, athletic variety, is a game of inches – within a limited space and rule-set, many bands clamor to be heard. In order to shine in this arena, a band must possess something ineffable that sets it apart. Vitriol has that edge: that extra burst of energy, that extra beat per minute, that extra quart of passion. Above all, there is realness coursing through every note of this band’s work – you can hear the blood and sweat in the mix – and that is what indicates this band could be one of the greats.
Due for release on November 10th, Pain Will Define Their Death sets forth VITRIOL‘s sound in no uncertain terms.
On top of this base, Vitriol adds inspiration from avant-black visionaries like Xasthur and Deathspell Omega. Faint blackened layers open emotional dimensions beyond the scope of brutish death metal. In the words of guitarist/vocalist Rasmussen: “Black metal provides a spiritual and emotional violence, whereas death metal provides the physical violence. I wanted to be able to impart all of these experiences with our music. A full existential attack.”
Lyrically, Vitriol is committed to this vision of violence – not gore but a broader, more poetic view of it. The EP kicks off with the following lines, setting the tone: “A hammer to crash through what it is to be human / Wield it with contempt or have it torn from your arm / We are wolves chewing at the ankles of the world.”
As Rasmussen explains, “Violence is the element that will always be found in any Vitriol song. Trivializing the human experience and shining a light on its frailty and natural cowardice. Vitriol isn’t so much about being above those things, just acknowledging them, detesting them, and punishing them. Sometimes even in myself.” He considers this harsh perspective to be inclusive, not elitist: “I truly believe that what we want to communicate and represent with our band is a universal truth to everyone. We’re trying to tap into something that everyone has inside of them, to varying degrees. It’s base, it’s instinctual.”
Flemington, New Jersey’s weird, junky rock’n’roll infused noisy rock / punk act PA ANGELO have released a new record called “Neurotica”, a jumble of fuzz-wrapped outbursts and sharp, bizarre lo-fi experiments proving that they can casually strike the fine balance between ear catching rock pop confections and psychedelic jams.

Blending elements of power-pop, slacker-rock and all of the best of your golden-era Dinosaur Jr./Pavement-influenced tunes, LKFFCT are sharing “Hatchling,” the lead single off of their forthcoming full-length, Dawn Chorus, out October 6th via Sniffling Indie Kids.
Tour Dates:
10/7: Grine Fest – Upper Saddle River, NJ
10/13: Cat Circus – Bloomfield, NJ (record release show)

10/28: TBA – Philadelphia, PA
Blending different influences from punk, post-punk, hardcore, and noise rock in an attempt to capture the stress of staying sane in today’s world, BIG HEET are sharing their first single “Flint” today with the announcement of their full-length debut, On A Wire, due out October 20th via the Exploding In Sound Records Tape Club. Led by former Ex-Breathers guitarist/singer David Settle, the Tallahassee quartet’s sound is rooted in post-hardcore with tangled post-punk, veering away from Settle’s hardcore past toward a highly combustible and dangerously loose sound. The Jimmy approved band’s debut album is a political statement of unrest, filled with primal fury and detached punk.
Speaking about “Flint,” Settle shared:
“It’s easy to become overwhelmed by our inability to change anything politically when the elected are ok with poisoning their own constituents and destroying the land. From the water crisis in Flint and the pipelines at Standing Rock and Sabal Palm, to the mass polluting of South Florida waters by Big Sugar companies (many of whom are top financial supporters of our highest-powered state politicians), its obvious that many in power care more about the corporate hands in their pockets than the lives they’re meant to represent.”
Big Heet is a 4-piece from Tallahassee, FL. Started by singer and guitarist David Settle in the summer of 2016 after the breakup of Ex-Breathers, the band was rounded out by roommates Geoff Perkins (bass) and Ronnie Francisco (drums). Although most of their new record On A Wire was written as a three-piece, they were later joined by guitarist Josh Saul of Miracle Roy to help fill out their sound. After fine-tuning the songs at local house shows, they recorded the album in the practice room of their house in July of 2017. Fueled by the anxieties of living in darker and darker times and trying to stay politically aware and active when national and local travesties keep piling up, Big Heet blends different influences from punk, post-punk, hardcore, and noise rock in an attempt to capture the stress of staying sane in today’s world.
Czech punk / progressive rockers UŽ JSME DOMA are streaming a couple of tracks from their new re-release of live recoording that documents the band’s 20th anniversary show from Prague, recorded on Oct. 13th, 2005.
EVERY TIME I DIE have parted ways with drummer Daniel Davison, who joined the band in early 2015. He will be replaced by NORMA JEAN’s drummer Clayton Holyoak, who shared the following message:
“There have been a few people that have been curious as of what I’ve been up to musically lately. I Was in San Diego writing with some friends less than a week ago when I got a text. I finished the time we had writing and flew to buffalo to learn 17 songs in the 4 days I had before we left for tour. I know there’s no footage of me but I swear I’m that little rocker in the back. Thank you to everyone who has supported me and cheered me a long the way! I really don’t know how I would convince myself this was possible if it wasn’t for you. @lexilazaro @dreudamn @johnaldfinn and my amazing mother that constantly reminds me that I can do anything. It’s been a stressful past 5 days but this shit pays off! Keep following your dreams!”
TURNOVER are streaming an acoustic version of their song ‘Super Natural’, coming from their latest release ‘Good Nature’, available now through Run For Cover Records.
Experimental folk singer songwriter Lucrezia Peppicelli has shared her newest, extraordinary offering called “Glossolalia”. Released under the name of VESPERTIINA and ditributed through Dio Drone, Dischi Bervisti, and Toten Schwan Records, the record is a gentle and mournful achievement that adeptly brings Lucrezia’s own flair to her artsy influences.
“GLOSSALALIA: Verbal expression of sounds, more or less linguistic, incomprehensible. As an abnormal phenomenon, it indicates the verbal delusions of some mentally ill, characterized by the voluntary creation of deformed words, systematically associated with the same meaning and producing an indecipherable language. As a normal phenomenon, it results from phonemes articulated in musical form and thus expressed, because of the musicality they generate, of moods. In primitive Christianity, a charisma consisting in the faculty of praying and praising God with unusual and unknown language, which can only be understood by those who have the gift of interpretation. “

Rock / punk rock act SATURDAY’S HEROES have released a new record “Pineroad” on Lövely Records, and a new music video for the track “Celebrate Nothing”. “Pineroad” is an homage to the street where two of the band members grew up, a homage to the street, and to the house where the band still rehearse to this day. The home fond bands new album ”Pineroad” is filled with more aggression and rock’n’roll attitude. New bass player Daniel Wiggander joined the band as the new album was taking form and the band gained momentum with the new energy boost. ”Pineroad” is very much what is expected by a punk rock album in 2017 with a few twists and twerks. It´s a story about growing up, finding yourself and experiencing life. Next week the band leavs Sweden and heads out on a european tour in support of the album. For fans of Bad Religion, Social Distortion, Bruce Springsteen, The Gaslight Anthem, Dropkick Murphys, Rancid and Street Dogs.
The album was recorded by Joona Hassinen at Studio Underjord and mastered by Niels Nielsen. Artwork by Johan Lonegran. Saturday’s Heroes have been freqently touring in Europe for the last couple of years and is set to hit the roads again in October. The album was planned to be quickly recorded but when the work started it took the band almost a year to get all the pieces together to make it the album to celebrate their upbringing.

Montreal punk rock foursome THESE FAST TIMES has officially joined the Thousand Islands Records family, with plans of putting out their debut LP “On The Other Side Of Fear” early 2018. The band featuring members of Winslow! previously put out their debut self-titled EP in February 2016, followed in September of the same year by a music video for the EP opener, “Jealousy”.
NYC underground female fronted rockers HIGH WAISTED are streaming 2 cool sounding tracks “Free Throw” and “Firebomb”, featured on a split 7″ released September 15th by Little Dickman Records. The two singles mark a bold new step forward for the group, moving away from their surfier origins to a fuller rock sound. Billboard premiered the tracks saying, “The band has never sounded more confident on the new set, which makes lead vocalist and guitarist Jessica Dye’s inspiration of ‘Free Throw’ that much more astonishing.”
“I used to assume the older you get the less fearful of failure you would be, but if anything, that worry just intensifies,” Dye tells Billboard. “It’s easy to feel hopeless even though you’re working as hard as you can towards a goal and it still isn’t enough. I think everyone can relate to this dark thought.”
Meanwhile, “Firebomb” is a self-described “feminist rock and roll war cry” that Dye hopes will shed light on knowing one’s self-worth and encouraging “other women to do the same with confidence and fearlessness of rejection.”
Garage punks SINGLE MOTHERS are premiering their new video for “Leash” with BrooklynVegan. Blackhouse label has premiered a new song from hardcore punk rockers WASTED BREATH, from their upcoming Blackhouse Debut hitting all digital platforms (including the BH digi store!) on October 10th, 2017. “Pontiac” is the opening track from Wasted Breath’s pro-recorded live full length album, “6.9.17”, tracked on location at The Observatory in Spokane, WA back this Summer. Check out Pontiac below, and keep your eyes peeled on the 10th!
After nearly a decade of angst, gallows humor, & several lifetimes worth of cheap beer, Wasted Breath’s Kyle Butler & Gary Gwinn added veteran Punk Rock drummer Dusty O’Brien to get the ball rolling. Wasted Breath has spent a year perfecting a unique combo of witty sing-alongs, brash guitar leads, show-off drum fills, & fuck you attitude. This band will simultaneously hit you with a wall of sonic assault, make you shake you’re a**, & keep you smiling from the very first downbeat. A treat for Rock & Rollers of all ages & musical tastes, Wasted Breath has something for everyone, and it’s undeniable in their recordings and live shows, and just interacting with the members themselves, love ‘em or hate ‘em (but we are pretty sure you are going to love them).
Indie alt pop rockers FUTURE TEENS are streaming their new reocrd Hard Feelings, to be released Sept. 29th on CD/CS/Digital via Take This To Heart Records. FFO: Diet Cig, Wavves, Weezer
“The raw atmosphere is lended to the bright guitars, with the vocals cutting through the rolling drums with a brilliant pace. As the song reaches it’s climax, the guitars grow louder with a unique fuzz about them, bringing the song to a bombastic and clashing end.”- The Alternative
Power indie pop punk rock outfit YOU VANDAL premiered a new song called “Collapse”. Their Jump Start debut, I Just Want to Go Back to Hell, will be available on November 17th, 2017. The 12 track effort will be released on 180 gram black and yellow limited edition vinyl LP, CD, and digitally.
I Just Want to Go Back to Hell is the follow up to the band’s 2015 effort Abandon All Hope (Chisel Records), and the band will be making an appearance at Fest 16 as well as hitting the road for in November in support of the Fall release.
You Vandal are a power-pop quartet from the swamps of Gainesville, FL. While Gainesville is typically known for its brand of gruff punk associated with No Idea Records, You Vandal takes the best parts of punk and pop-rock and delivers the antithesis; songs full of melodies, and well polished vocals begging you to sing-a-long. This band has more in common with New Found Glory than Hot Water Music, but also manage to stay clear of any cringe inducing clichés that come along with the pop-punk genre. Their sophomore release, I Just Want to Go Back to Hell, should have no problem earning a seat at the table with some of the classic albums that have surely influenced You Vandal. Be sure to keep an eye out for multiple US tours and festival appearances throughout the next year in support of I Just Want to Go Back to Hell.
On September 29th, the mysterious collective known as B R I Q U E V I L L E will unleash their stunning, three-track II full-length. In advance of its release, New Noise Magazine is currently streaming the record in full (listen below). Listen and view their alarming visual accompaniment to the track “Akte VI” at this location.
B R I Q U E V I L L E is a band shrouded in mystery. On stage, they create an instrumental mantra of spooky guitars, modified field recordings, and eerie, sampled chants. These meditative buildups, based on the perseverant element of repetition, are contrasted with and ripped apart by sudden, unforeseeable outbursts of the purest and sheerest heaviness. Indeed, the music demands to be experienced live. Slow lingering compositions that require patience and submission, subsequently followed by a deep catharsis.
San Francisco, California’s grungy stoner metal rockers DISASTROID are streaming new songs from their upcoming record ‘Screen’, coming on October 2nd.
Disastroid is three guys from San Francisco who play heavy music. Their sound is a genre-blending mix of sludge, grunge, metal, and noise rock. (There’s some math-y stuff in there sometimes too, but don’t get too stressed out about it.)
In the last few years they’ve shared the stage with bands like Helmet, Fu Manchu, Oxbow, Coliseum, Black Cobra, Future of the Left, Bison BC, Church of Misery, Fatso Jetson, and Eagles of Death Metal.

Punk rock act DOWNTOWN BOYS have shared a new video for their song ‘Somos Chulas (No Somos Pendejas)’, coming from the band’s full length release ‘Cost of Living’, available now on Sub Pop Records.
The band commented:
We hope you enjoy this video. Chulas are people who believe in the mergence of our past experiences and what we want the future to be. This mergence becomes our reality, and right now that includes a lot of pain and healing in our community at so many levels. We feel that the recent decision made by the white supremacist faction of our Federal government around DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) was not a decision based on economic justice for the USA nor based on advancing real immigration reform. It was based on racism against immigrants. We know a lot of people who like Downtown Boys, come to our shows, or listen to our music are affected by this. We also want to acknowledge the millions of immigrants that were never even eligible for DACA and face criminalization, deportation, and racism daily. We must continue to fight against all borders. Demonizing people of color and immigrants is not a solution. We know we can’t do much, but we can try to get as much information on this out there as possible. We urge anyone who is affected by the DACA decision or knows someone who is affected to look into United We Dream and the National Immigration Law Center. People have until October 5 to renew their DACA paperwork, please read more info on how to get involved and things to know here.

Ft. Collins, Colorado’s GLEEMER have teamed with UPROXX mag to premiere “Come Down” the shimmering new single from their upcoming full length, Anymore, due out November 17th via Other People Records. “Come Down” is a warm blend of ’90s rock fuzz and dreamy textures that offers an emotive new spin on familiar sounds. UPROXX noted Gleemer’s unique ability to “mix the best of emo and shoegaze” while praising the song’s lovingly meticulous production as “the beautifully polished.” Anymore was recorded by singer/guitarist Corey Coffman in the studio he built in at his parent’s house, and the album’s homegrown atmosphere perfectly compliments the relatable vignettes in Coffman’s lyrics.
Gleemer will be supporting Anymore throughout the Fall on a lengthy run of U.S. tour dates with Hundredth, Spotlights, and Tennis System. See full itinerary below.

Belgian stoner rock’n’roll / metal band LOST BARON are streaming their new EP Bastard Blood.
Today, art pop/rock act WEAVES are streaming their sophomore LP, Wide Open, ahead of its release via NPR’s First Listen & CBC’s First Play. The album, the follow up to the band’s acclaimed and recently Polaris short-listed 2016 debut, is described by NPR as a “fresh and magnetic” release that, “feels hell-bent on injecting art-rock weirdness into a pop-music mold…[and] finds Weaves tightly coiled and finely tuned, anthemic in its own freakishly fun way.” The album will be released on Buzz Records, Kanine and Memphis Industries on October 6th.
The band has described Wide Open as its Americana record, though the songs only bear a passing resemblance to the genre. There’s pedal steel on the title track and a touch of twang on “Grass,” but the songs, in general, flirt across genre lines: bombastic rock, jangly art-pop, freaked-out fuzz. Whereas the songs on the band’s self-titled debut retrofitted pop structures over janky, vertiginous melodies and syncopated rhythms, Wide Open works the other way around: It feels hell-bent on injecting art-rock weirdness into a pop-music mold. Wide Open finds Weaves tightly coiled and finely tuned, anthemic in its own freakishly fun way. / NPR magazine

Philly noise-rock all-stars PLAGUE MARKS have unleashed new song “Oregon Chem-Trail” upon the world today. An absolute banger of the rawest, most caustic variety, “Oregon Chem-Trail” appears on the band’s upcoming debut EP, Anxiety Driven Nervous Worship, out October 27th on Learning Curve Records.
The self-proclaimed “stain on the smile of the Philadelphia music scene,” Plaque Marks comprises members of Creepoid, Fight Amp, Ecstatic Vision, and The Powder Room. Caveman drumming, tooth-rattling bass, painfully distorted guitars, and buried yells are the elements at play, and on Anxiety Driven Nervous Worship they sound like they were recorded with one lone mic, hanging from a noose in a Philly warehouse.
The band hits the road with none other than Unsane for a cross-country trek in November and December.

Italian deathcore / death metal act INSANE THERAPY have released a new music video for the song “Walking Dead Men”, the second single from the upcoming full length album “Fracture”.
Insane Therapy is an Italian band that has just one simple goal, playing extreme music as loud as possible.
Despite being usually labeled as a death-core band their music encompasses many aspects of the metal genre. Breakdowns and fast groovy riffs along with gloomy melodies and a massive sound, different types of growl and scream along with fast metrics and parts that get stuck in your head, are the main features that set them apart from other bands. Their sound stems from both many hours spent in rehearsing and a steady live activity. Their lyrics want to open the mind’s eye of their listeners talking the importance of keeping your own identity in order to not conform to the masses. Insane Therapy addresses many issues that affect our everyday life such as racism, corruption and bigotry.
Formed in 2010, Insane therapy have an EP, a split album, a Full Lenght Album and have took part in some tours sharing the stage with famous bands.
Des Moines indie alt rockers THE SLEEPOVER are streaming their new record “No Sleep”, as well as their recent video for the song “Copy Of Me”. These guys deliver a solid portion of gritty, 80s punk and 70s influenced rock, breathing life into the poppier side of it.
To go out with a bang in 2017 rock’n’roll act THE SWEET THINGS (featured on IDIOTEQ last year) are releasing another limited edition 7 inch single on Spaghetty Town Records for “Slather” and “Dustianne”. 200 copies on red vinyl and 300 copies on black vinyl. Attached is the press release, cover art and tour flyer.
2017 was a great year for NYC’s The Sweet Things. They released their first vinyl single for “Love To Leave” to great reviews. They played shows with The Supersuckers , Motochrist and Dr. Boogie. They toured the west coast and they also received radio airplay on Sirius XM’s “Underground Garage”, NYC’s “Out Of The Box” with Jonathon Clarke and WFMU!

Last month, refined alt indie rockers CASPER SKULLS announced their debut LP with the premiere of “You Can Call Me Allocator” on The FADER, and today the band are premiering the album’s second single, “Lingua Franca” in and interview with Noisey. The album, entitled Mercy Works, will be released on Buzz Records on November 3rd, following their well-received Lips & Skull EP from 2016, and “Lingua Franca” is the first single from the album to highlight the band’s co-lead vocalist and songwriter Melanie St. Pierre.
She describes the song as an ambiguous break up song about a breakdown of communication, and the track relaxes the razor wire tension that underpinned the album’s first single and much of the EP that preceded it, opting instead for a subtle grandeur, abetted by a string quartet, that showcases St. Pierre’s melodic sensibility. Skirting the edges of a torch song, the track is delivered with an unmannered sincerity typical of the band, and while it retains the thoughtful, literate songwriting style that is their hallmark, it’s their most emotionally direct release to date, with Noisey calling it “unquestionably moving.”
Mercy Works was recorded in early 2017 with co-producer/engineer Josh Korody (Fucked Up, Dilly Dally), and mixed by Alex Newport (At The Drive-In, Death Cab For Cutie). While the rough and ready post-punk and lo-fi early ’90s indie influences present on the band’s first recordings still provide the foundation, there is a sense of scale on display in their swelling guitar figures and sweeping string arrangements (provided by Toronto musician Paul Erlichman) that is mirrored by the songwriting of dual lead vocalists Melanie St. Pierre and Neil Bednis. The real-life couple seek to represent lived experience in immense detail – engaging with a diverse palette of references, both musical and lyrical, to explore two intensely personal perspectives of emotional growth.
Canadian metal/hardcore band COUNTERPARTS has released today a new video for their song “Swim Beneath My Skin.” The video comes just days after the massively-anticipated release of their critically heralded new album, “You’re Not You Anymore”. The record is available now from Pure Noise Records (stream it here).
“”Swim Beneath My Skin” is a song about how we allow ourselves to be so vulnerable it feels like another human being is literally making their way through your body. It’s often terrifying but for me, it’s necessary.” – Brendan Murphy (vocals)
Australian metalcore act IN HEARTS WAKE have released a new video for Overthrow, a standout anthem from their #3 album Ark. Filmed on their huge Australian headline tour earlier this year, Overthrow is an incendiary mosh-call of chaos, set to land ahead of In Hearts Wake’s first ever headline tour across Europe with Gideon and Silent Screams.
*When I first heard Ben play the opening riff to Overthrow I felt like a teenage kid about to mosh down the walls of his tiny bedroom,” remembers frontman Jake Taylor. “I wanted to release everything and anything that wasn’t serving me. You know, all that negative shit that just builds up and weighs you down? Overthrow gave me the platform to speak about the shadow stuff I was experiencing, and in doing so, I worked through it.”
“Life is about the light and the dark, the ups and the downs, the bitter and the sweet,” Jake continues. “It’s learning how to navigate through the turbulence that counts. Sometimes when we suffer, we pretend we’re okay, but deep down we are in pain. We can become afraid of this pain and try to ignore it, but if we avoid the issue, it can fester—and grow stronger. Eventually it can build up, explode, or worse, implode. The pain becomes like a tyrant dominating our lives. But with our awareness and integration, we can Overthrow its control over us.”
