As a huge 90s fan and many nostalgia-inducing items, including records, I was well aware of many emotional hardcore bands’ innovative contributions to the development of the genre and comprehensive, creative, angular strains that didn’t dispose of the very heart of punk and the harsh energy of hardcore. Today, in light of many great bands records out there, it almost goes without saying how important that era was to hardcore and music in general. Philadelphia’s KING SLENDER bring back some of the memories into our hearts and minds, and it is our great pleaure to give you the first listen of their excellent new EP “King Slender”!
These four songs were recorded with Steve Roche (SAETIA, OFF MINOR) at Permanent Hearing Damage in the band’s hometown of Philadelphia. The band offered the following on the lyrical content of the record:
The lyrics are influenced not only by personal experiences, but also by the political state of the US, both in modern times and during previous eras of our nation’s history.
“King Slender” 4 song s/t cassette tape (limited to 50 copies) is being released by Zegema Beach Records (Canada/NZ), while the 7″ version (limited to 200 copies on various colors of vinyl) will be brought to you by Killer Tofu Records (Bethlehem, PA) and One Day Records (Philadelphia, PA). Release date for both versions is November 10th 2017.
