Baltimore band TURNSTILE and Australian producer Mall Grab have teamed up for “Share A View,” a collaborative EP which finds Turnstile and Mall Grab reimagining three songs – “Generator,” “Real Thing,” and “I Don’t Wanna Be Blind” – off of Turnstile’s acclaimed 2018 LP TIME & SPACE. “Share A View” is available on all streaming platforms.
Turnstile’s Brendan Yates elaborated on the collaboration:
“This came to fruition by us just appreciating each other from afar. It feels refreshing to be able to share ideas like this together. All music is dance music.”
Always more appeal than demand, more liberation than limitation, Turnstile extended their hand in 2018 with TIME & SPACE. Recorded with producer Will Yip at Studio 4 in Conshohocken, PA, TIME & SPACE marked Turnstile’s Roadrunner Records debut and saw the band exploding the most outsized tropes of hardcore with tremendous heart. The album earned “Best of 2018” year-end accolades from The New Yorker, New York Times, Rolling Stone, and NPR, with GQ naming TIME & SPACE one of “The Best Albums That Shaped the 2010s.” Comprised of Brendan Yates (Vocals), Franz Lyons (Bass/Vocals), Brady Ebert (Guitars), Pat McCrory (Guitars), and Daniel Fang (Drums), Turnstile’s brand of youth-minded, youth-driven hardcore punk is intent on breaking down barriers, sonically and ideologically. Jordon Alexander, aka Mall Grab, does not do halves. Operating at a dangerously high frequency, the Australian’s rise from exciting newcomer to dominant force over the last four years has been impossible to ignore. With an endless arsenal of club weapons, Jordon’s palate has now evolved to a more mature sound, which he channels through his Looking For Trouble record label and (consistently sold-out) parties. Never one to hit pause, Jordon keeps his world spinning as the axis of Steel City Dance Discs, a label family that transcends genres and blows away ticket holders. While guilty of some of Rinse FM’s highest playcounts over the past two years, it’s the live arena in which Mall Grab does the realest damage.
