In a striking comeback, the Louisville hardcore veterans formerly known as Coliseum have re-emerged under the new moniker C.L.S.M. Comprising vocalist Ryan Patterson, bassist Kayhan Vaziri, and drummer Carter Wilson, the trio has surprised fans and critics alike with the sudden release of their new album, “Infinity Shit,” via Auxiliary Records and Equal Vision.
This unexpected revival comes after a significant hiatus. Coliseum, known for their dynamic presence in the hardcore punk scene, had ceased activities in 2015, following the release of their fifth full-length album, “Anxiety’s Kiss.” During this period, the band members pursued individual projects, with Patterson focusing on Fotocrime, Vaziri staying active with Yautja, and Wilson involving himself with Null.
Ryan Patterson, reflecting on the formation of C.L.S.M., shared that the bond among the trio never waned despite the break. Regularly keeping in touch, discussing new movies, music, and life updates, the group’s chemistry remained intact.
The idea for “Infinity Shit” sparked in 2021 when Patterson, inspired, began writing demos of intense D-beat and skank beat hardcore songs. After sharing these with Vaziri and Wilson, the enthusiasm for a new project was unanimous, leading to the creation of the album.
“Infinity Shit” is characterized by its raw and fast-paced sound, reminiscent of Coliseum’s early work, yet distinct in its intensity and style. The album consists of 10 tracks, each one reflecting the band’s renewed energy and creative synergy. Fans can stream the album online and also purchase physical copies.
The tracklist of “Infinity Shit” features titles that echo the band’s hard-hitting and unapologetic style, including “Dehydrated Flesh Of The Bourgeoisie,” “Trash The Human Race,” “Hammer Through The Windshield,” “Engagement Photos,” “Alchemical Terrorism,” “Behind The Sheltering Sky,” “The Stranger,” “Psychedelic Ward,” “Drill Into The Earth,” and the eponymous “Infinity Shit.”
With “Infinity Shit,” C.L.S.M. celebrates the enduring friendship and collaborative spirit that has defined the group’s journey.
